my basset hound Noah starts limping occassionally.  It comes and goes.  I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be or how I should check into the situation?  I did read some info that stated they do have heriditary hip problems....?

My boy does that occasionally. My vet said it is common for them to pull muscles and such. I give mine an asprin every 6 hrs about 3 times and he is fine again.

My Basset Otis has limped since he was a puppy, the vet said he was born with a condition in his knees, I cant remember the name but the knee caps slip out of place. I to give my Otis and asprin a day and he seems to feel better.

You have to be very careful with a basset hound.  If you allow them to jump alot, or jump off of the bed or couch, they will behin to have joint problems.  Those short little legs have a hard enough time trying to hold up their big body frames....you can't expect a basset not to get joint problems if you allow them to jump.

My Basset Hound, Gus, does that, too.  His vet has given me (to keep on hand) some anti-inflamatory pills...but I like the idea better about the aspirin.
