call the local animal hospitals and see if they have any ads or flyers advertising them.  look in the paper and check on line.  that is how i found mine, and she is the best dog in the entire world!

I would deffenlenty check the SPCA first because those dogs will be put to sleep if no body gets them. Also they are much cheaper(practically free) and you would be saving a life.

Just so everyone knows, there is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua. this is a phrase people use to sell these pups for a larger price. The truth is, these pups are the smallest of the litter, therefore, called "teacup"  chihuahua. I have a little chihuahua who is only 3 lbs and done growing. He is my little pride and joy. If you are looking for one around this are ( NJ, NY) let me know... thank you

There's no such thing as a teacup chihuahua! It's just a scam used by dishonest breeders con unsuspecting people into thinking a smaller chihuahua is "rare" and they should pay more money because it's "rare". In fact, they are doing more harm to the breed than good. Dogs that are bred down in size can suffer from a multitude of inheritable problems and organ problems. It's fairly common for them to die at an early age from organ failure. If you want a chihuahua, do yourself a favor and do your research and find a reputable breeder. Start with the AKC.. www.akc.org

I am 16 years old, and both my best friends recently got small puppies, and i fell in love with them both! I am the proud owner of a 4 year old chihuahua, but she is mostly my moms dog, and being exposed to the tiny pups of my friends, I desperately want a small puppy of my own. if you people were intelligent, you'd stop writing "need one cheap" because no reputable breeder is going to sell you a dog, knowing that you have no money.  They want their puppies to go to people who can provide for them financially as well as emotionally and who, in case of a 911 vet visit, will be able to save their pets life.  Get with it!!!

Please know that chihuahuas bred to be extra tiny are prone to a whole host of health problems--luxating patellas, seizures, hydrocephalus just to name a few--and often have much shorter life spans than normal sized ones.  The chihuahua is already the world's smallest dog, how small do you really need?  Also, there really is no such thing as a "teacup chihuahua", its just a marketing ploy to charge more for the tiniest dogs.  Chihuahuas are wonderful companions, in all sizes, but please inform yourselves on the negatives before making a decision.

I have 3 Chis, there is NO SUCH THING as a toy or teacup Chi!!! People try to sell that to you to get you to pay MORE!!! My Chi's are from 3 to 5 pounds.

Hi, my name is Kim and I am looking for a brown Teacup Chihuahua for my dog Chico. We used to have a Toy Chihuahua but he got hit by a car. My dog is doing ok because are neighbor has a Toy Chihuahua and he always comes over but now they are going to move and me and my dog both love that dog so I wanted to buy another dog just for him.

why doesn't everyone try looking in their local newspaper advertisements, that's how I found both of my chihuahuas and they will both be under 3 lbs.

Make sure you check the breeder out before buying anything.

right now i'mnot looking for a teacup chihuahua, but somewhere i can get one. i'mtwelve years old and the youngest of my family. so my brothers and sister are moving out. i'vealways loved little chihuahuas.i'vealready started saving up for the puppy, food, the works and my parents will help with food and stuff. i understand that these little dogs are worth millions but if you know where i can find one$200 or lower in the Western NY area i would be forever greatful

There is no such thing as a t-cup chi. I am a chi breeder. Breeders use the term to ask outageous prices for the dogs. Also, no one can guarantee you how big the pup will get. The one that they promise you to be a tiny t-cup, may end up being a 10 lb chi. Also, if you want a "t-cup" for $200 or less, forget it!! The asking prices on these "t-cups" are usually $1200-$1500.

I would like to thank the Chi breeders that are stepping up and saying that there is no such thing as a teacup Chi. Because i didn't know that,nor did i know the health problems that went along with making the dog breed smaller. i will look into this more and check your web-sites because of your honesty and care for the dogs. thank you.

I want a teacup chihuahua. i know they don't REALLY exist but i know small ones do, therefor i want a SMALL chihuahua. i know they may be destined to die after like 2 years, but i want one. i have to pay for the dog myself to show i will take care of it, but my mom is paying for everything else. i have like $350. To say that such animal cruelty is OK by supporting the breeding of undersized dogs is truly sick. It is ridiculous that you would rather have a tiny sickly puppy simply because of the it's size than a healthy well bred dog.

Hey everyone,
Im am 14 years old almost 15 and i once had my own dog marlon but unfortunatly he got way to big and my mom gave him away while i was at my dads. at that time he was my only friend. that was when i was 7 then since my dog and my best friend was gone i grew closer to my brother but unfortunaly when i was 12 my brother enrolled in the army and is stationed in Iraq So i lost my best friend to war since then i have been longing to have a chihuahua becasue they would provide me with the best friend i no longer have and they are small and i just fall in love with they're faces. i would really like a short haired tan or black chihuahua. I know that I would provide a very loving house for the animal. I jused had to say good buy to my very best friend alittle bird who used to sit on my shoulder when I play my violin.He died this morning and I can not even play any more.My mom took me to some pet stores...but there will never be another bird like him...When we stoped at the store with the dogs I met  a wonderfull creature-a little doggy,who licked my tears and I fell so in love with him.That mas a toy puppy.But..it costs 1000.oo dol.Came home started looking on line.Thay are all so lovable.Almost all breeds.If smb. please help me to find me friend again,that would be the most wonderful event in my life.I live in florida.My mom could prob.take me up to 500 miles to get a doggy .Please email me at jurategoodforyou@comcast.net.                                    Andrew/13/

I had a tri-colored long-haired Chihuahua for 10 years.  He died Oct. 2003 partially due to an enlarged heart (and other organs)from poor breeding.  He was extremely sick in the end and had several medications.  His symptoms were evident - his heart was just too big (lovingly).  Killer was the best baby dog ever.  The breed is amazingly loving and smart, but don't set yourself up.  
The breed takes a lot of care (I know of 3 people who sat on theirs and killed them - seriously).

I have a teacup size chi. and he is in no way sickly! he was not sickly since the day i brought him home when he was two months. eh is very healthy and he is more hyper than most. Teacups are not runts. They are smaller bred, my mom-in-law does show dogs and in no way are these dogs sickly or runts! they just happen to be small, if they were runts then why have all of my mom-in-laws chis been all so small, when she has a wonderful healthy standard size? also if you want chi's the site puppyfind.com is helpful.

If anyone is looking for a reg. Chihuahua in California (bay area) I have a great suggestion! I got my chihuahua from a Breeder in Fairfeild CA. They are black/brown/and white. I would like to rescue a teacup (dwarf gene that makes it small) puppy (no more than 2 months) that has no value to be sold. I will provide a good loving home, and all provisions it may need.

I would like the color to be mainly white, but this is optional.  It must not have been bread unhealthful…bread with other dwarf Chihuahuas in order to breed them for the dwarf size.

The dog must be a dwarf because it showed up as a dwarf in the healthy litter out of natural selection of the mother and father's gene. Please contact Lu at HouseholdTime@juno.com.

i believe that anyone who says that they are disabled shouldn't do that and use their disability to get a cheaper chihuahua, as i am a student nurse and believe me disability is not a laughing matter. i also believe that the most of the people on this website are only interested in how small/cheap they can get their chihuahua'swhich makes me think that you all only want them for show and not to love and cherish them, they are like little baby's and when babies are born people like them to be a good healthy weight and not tiny and the same applies for a chihuahua. as it has been said before the small they are the more health problems and if anyone gets a cheap chihuahua then guess WA, your not gonna get one well not a pedigree anyway. i think that you should all wake up and realize that these are not accessories and are little vulnerable puppies/dogs and should not be used as the latest fashion trends.

We do have 2 very tiny chihuahuas one is a female pure black, one is a solid chocolate male both shorthair.They were born on Oct 4th,2005 They weigh 21 ox according to chihuahua chart will be right at 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 lb. you can find chart if you look up in search "puppy growth chart" It can vary by a 1/2 lb to 1 lb. parents are 2 1/2 and 2 3/4 lbs so it should be right. I have two chis that I purchased here in south florida, my male was $1600 and my female was $2000 and between food and vet bills they can be pretty pricey to take care of. They get Timberwolf food at $39/bag, 6 month vet vists are $65/dog, and annuals are $154/dog. Not to mention the Frontline Plus and Interceptor $178/dog. Totaling over $1,000 per year for their care. please keep in mind that this is in addtion to toys, clothes, dental care, and anything extra. make sure you can afford to care for these animals as they are more fragile and expensive than others. For those on fixed income budgets, you may want to stick with a mixed breed animal that is over 5 pounds since they are sturdier.

i think you take a risk with buying any type of puppy/baby doesn't matter how small... So why not take the chance and get a small dog if you want one... besides these dogs are being breed either way so why not take care of one while it is on this earth...

I have just got a teacup chi, and let me tell you, she is only 1/2 pound at 8 weeks old!!!! And chi's aren't always expensive, I got my for 205 dollars. I own three Chihuahuas and they are wonderful companions.  I have heard folks refer to the smaller of the three as teacup.  This is not so!!  She is AKC certified and here breed is CHIHUAHUA!!  Anyone telling you something different is just plain wrong.  I have read many post refering to this "teacup" type, go to and AKC breeder and see for your selves.  Remember; the teacup thing is just a rouse to get you to spend more money.  Oh yeah, as a pup my chihuahua required alot of attention almost around the clock.  So please remember folks don't be sold on a special or specific name, ask a professional breeder!!

Less than $200 for a pure bred dog? Are you kidding me? If you can't afford more than $200, you should adopt a dog because at least shelters can assist with medical bills. Not only are "tea-cups" more suspectible to health problems because of their purposeful inbreeding, but those health problems can equally come to over $200 for a vet visit! No reputable breeder would also sell to someone under 18 without talking to the parents either.

Anybody looking for a Chihuahua in the state of New Mexico can go to www.quixotehumane.org and actually save a life...  We currently have over 50 Chihuahua and Chihuahua X's in rescue and are having to turn many away because we just don't have any more fosters left..  Please remember like mentioned a few times in this posting there is no such thing as a teacup, apple-head, etc...  Those are just descriptors breeders like to use to charge more for their dogs...  Nobody can guarantee their puppies will not grow into regular sized Chihuahuas, they are breeding the smallest with the smallest and hoping for the best..  However, even with doing that we have had many Chihuahuas turned over to our rescue because they ended up much bigger than even a regulation sized Chihuahua...  We've had people give us their dogs because they wanted a "teacup" and were sold a "teacup" only to end up with a 9 lb dog..  As for the comment earlier about medical--  the smaller they are the more health problems they usually have!!  Good luck in finding your Chihuahua-- please consider checking with a rescue first though-- there really are way too many homeless animals to support anymore breeding.  Especially if you just want a pet and don't plan on showing it.. It's not like you take the reg/ pedigree with you on a walk to show everybody that your dog is papered...  I don't know about anybody else but I have never had anybody ask me for the registration papers on any of my animals nor have I asked anybody for theirs..  So there really is no reason for papers if you just want a companion animal.. They will love you regardless if you had papers for them or not..

It is so disheartening to read the "requests" on here. My heart aches for all of the animal cruelty that is defined by people who intentionally want a "small chihuahua". Anyone who specifically is looking for a 'teacup' or 'small' or whatever you call it is just as guilty as any dog murderer out there by perpetuating the situation. There is no such thing as a teacup chihuhahua and of you believe that, then you don't deserve any dog of any breed. Shame on all of you! Kudos to those standing up against these horrible disillusions.

Its depressing to know that people will even rip u off to sell a puppy. Just b/c someone pays top dollar for a dog doesn't mean there going to treat the puppy any better. Low income people are just as cabable loving and caring for a dog as well as a person with money. It erks me to know that people won't give you a chihuahua for a reasonable cheap price but they will sell a chihuahua if the price is right. Whos to say whos better?
    I want a chihuahua and have searched thousands of websites and all I have found are a thousand extremely outrages prices. I love animals but i can't see paying no more than 120-150 for a puppy. so if any one knows anyone whos willing to give up a chihuahua(to a very loving person that can and will provide for.) that price please get back to me at dawne_warren@yahoo.com

I have had absoutly finding a teacup
if you are having problems .it is because you avent looked hard.go to a web search
I bought mine from livedeal.com there is also puppyfind.com they range from 400.00 and up.they will fly them to a airport near you.Ask how small the mother and father is.that will give you a good idea.those of you that are a charity case,you can forget IT.You get what you pay for.no money you get a MUT!Sorry for being so cruel!but it is true.

Hey there! I too, am looking for a chihuahua puppy. I'm 13 years old, and have had experience with small dogs [I have had a Scottish Terrier, and I now have a 7 year old Rat Terrier...He has been in my family since I was about 6, and He is still going strong :)].











I live outside of Frankfort, KY and if anyone has any info about some dogs $300 and under I would appreciate it! I am willing to go to Southern Ohio, And my brother will be able to get one for me around the Nashville Area.

i guess im the 1st 2 write in the year 2007. wow!! how special. n e ways...just like the rest of u people i 2 want a teacup chi but... from what i hear and read they have very high vet billz! i know they're so sweet but honestly ... if u know you cant afford takeing it 2 the vet 4 all the health problems... then i sugest the regular sized chi b cuz they are just as lovable without all those trips 2 the vet. life is so hard and we all know that money dosent come easy. so lets b smart.

Just To Let you All Know There Is No Such Thing As A "TEACUP CHIHUAHUA" (according to the akc decription of the dog), Breeders Try To Sell Runts As Teacups To Make More Money, Chi's Are Usually 3-8 Pounds, There Is No Exact Way To Tell If They Are Going To Be Big Or Small But You Can Compare Them To The Parents Height And Weight. Appleheads Do Tend To Be A Bit Smaller But Like I Said There Is No Way To Tell For Sure!!!

All these people that keep saying that tiny chihuahuas are sickly and that it's cruel to breed a chihuahua to be 2 lbs, need to get over it. Everyone knows that there isn't an actual breed called a "teacup" chihuahua, but sometimes breeders do get "runts" and then they sell them for a larger price because "runts" are rare! AND these "runts" usually get to at least 2 lbs. If you had done your research, you'd know that the breed standard is 2-6 lbs. Therefore these "runts" that are referred to as "teacup chihuahuas" are perfectly normal.
