This is the sort of question that, when you're in the station and looking at a map, you'll just know the answer, but since I brought the map home last week, it's pretty easy for me to see.  so,

While in Gare du Nord, catch line 4 towards Porte d'Orleans  go 4 stops, get out.
Follow the signs for line 3, towards Pont de Levallois Becon.  11 stops later you're there.

I bet your best option is to by the 10-pack of tickets.  Use 5 and pack the others away for another day.  Don't discard the used ones until you're out of the system because they do check for line-jumpers/no-ticket-passengers at the exits.

Not related to this question, but I highly recommend the Mobilis day-use passes (insist on Mobilis (appx 5 and half euros) and not the higher-priced version of the same thing) for moving about for a day.  Pays for itself with 4 uses, and the nice thing is you can hop on and off buses.  Great for the weary explorer.
