It is important that you don't breed her anytime under two years of age. Chihuahuas tend to have complications due to their small size and more often than not there will be a labor situation that will require human help. For the sake of your dog PLEASE don't breed until you know all you can about heat, breeding, pregnancy, whelping, etc. Dogs and pups have lost their lives in labor due to the irresponsibility of the owner. There are so many pros and cons to this process that I don't know where I would begin explaining them all! Whatever you do I'm sure you will do what is best for you and your dog. Good luck!! Oh, and if you want more help on the breeding process you can email me at stanishas@aol.com. Bye!

Tanisha is right on!  Many chi's are too delicate to be bred, any under four pounds shouldn't be for sure.  You also need to make sure that both the mother and father dog are cleared of genetic defects such as collapsed tracheas, slipped kneecaps (luxating patellas), retained baby teeth, etc.

I strongly recommend leaving breeding to experienced breeders who know what to look for and how to breed safely.  Even they sometimes lose the mother and/or the litter.  The costs of proper vet care through the pregnancy and after are much more than you can hope to make by selling the pups.  There are so many puppies who already need homes, there's no need to do-it-yourself.

My female Chihuahua is in heat I noticed this the day before yesterday.  So she has only been in heat for no more than 3 days I have noticed that my female is wanting to play with my male but he keeps snapping and barking at her does anyone know why he is doing this to her and why she is wanting to play so much? Thanks

I think their both right if a dog has a puppy under 2 years of age it might kill her and the puppy. I don't think there should be breed after 8 years of age.
