In between the text file, I have special characters like...

In between the text file, I have special characters like '^L'.

How can i remove the above special character in between the text. Or Let me know how to find the special character in vi mode.

The same way You remove ^M. You can use either vi, or tr, to remove it. In vi, use substitute command but before pressing control-L, type a control-V first. Control-V allows for input of special chars.

i.e., while entering the command:
:s1,$/ (NOW Press control-V control-L)

:s!,$/^L//g

Second option: ^L is decimal 10, hex 0a, octal 012. Use tr with -d option:

# cat filewithL | tr -d "\012" > outputfile
