All storage devices require an allocation index which is stored within a partition information table. However it is the media which carries this so the floppy drive does not have the table.  However the following:

Floppy Disk
Hard Disk
CD Media
DVD Media
Zip/Jaz/LS120 Media
Smart Media
Secure Data Media
Compact Flash Media

And other such media do have a partition information table located on them.
