what age were midwifes popular?

midwifes can be any age but i think its better to start young as you have more time working as a midwife. i think it would be a very enjoyable job and you could never get board with babies and women having babies. i don't think there should be an age to start midwifery if there as because what do you do in the time between when you leave school and when you start the courses.
