My husband and I are moving to a house with two flights of carpeted, reasonably steep stairs. We would like to introduce a dog into our lives within the next few months, and have experience with very large breeds. We are very attracted to Newfoundlands for their temperament, but are concerned about the stairs causing hip problems. This is why we have given up on a Great Dane, our overwhelming first choice. Can anyone shed light into whether moderate stairs use--as in following us up to the offices or bedroom and back down again--causes problems in this breed over the long term?
Thank you,
Katrina,
Netherlands
