My husband is a type 1 Diabetes and has renal failure as of Oct 2003. We are getting ready to go to UAB Hospital for our evaluation for a Kidney/pancreas transplant. I'm think very seriously about being tested to be a donor, people have been telling me since I'm O negative blood type that I have a good chance of being a match. But I thought that tissue typing and kidney size has a lot to do with being a match also instead of just blood typing. If anyone has any type of advise it would be very helpful as we have been researching all information that we can find.
