I have a 1987 dodge lancer 2.5 liter. It's possessed. starts most of the time stays running less, bucks and sputters at any speed, stalls during slow down and/or stopping most of the time unless you keep the revs up above 2k. After stalling it seems to be in a flooded condition but it will start eventually and needs to be revved above 3k to keep running. When the temperature rises it will run better but still has a tendency to stall. All of these things happen whether or not its at good operating temperature. Temperature gauge has a tendency to fluctuate also but not to over-heating. Have replaced cap, wires, rotor fuel filter been through almost every connector on the beast. Every so often it will run ok with throttle position steady and no hills or valleys in sight. HELP,HELP,HELP If nothing some sympathy and a moment of silence while she succumbs to auto heaven. P.S. I have read almost all of the Q&A on the net concerning this.

I have a 1988 Caravan with 2.5 TBI engine with the same problem.  I am going to try and clean the hall effect sensor in the distributor beneath the rotor.  If this doesn't work, I will change it or get a working distributor from the junkyard.

Hello John,
for your dodge Lancer 1987 2.5L
I think it's your throttle position sensor. Good Luck!
