How do we stop recursive find? i.e, if i put in a find...

How do we stop recursive find?
i.e, if i put in a find command, it should search for files in that directory only.....not go to the sub directories

With GNU find:
  find . -maxdepth 1 ....

cd to the directory in question so that you can use . in the find command,
then, for example,
find . \( ! -name . -prune \) -name \*.c -print

# pwd
/
# find . -depth -name <pattern> -print

For example :

# pwd
/
# find . -depth -name umount -print
./usr/lib/fs/cachefs/umount
./usr/lib/fs/nfs/umount
./usr/sbin/umount
./etc/umount
./sbin/umount

find . -type d | awk -F/ '{print $2}'|sort -u
