Dogs often do funny things such as licking paws. If,at any time you are worried talk to a vet or expirienced dog owner and look into medicines.

When a dog licks their paws a lot, it is usually caused from neglect (like if you go off to work all day and leave them alone) but the vet can give you some salve to put on it, but it is very likely that the dog will lick the salve off too.  The vet can give you some oral antibiotics if the dog keeps licking off the salve.

my pug and my chihuahua have the same exact problem. theirs is because they are allergic to most tyoes of grass. i generally put ointment like neosporin or melagel, or something like cortaid to stop the irritation. they just end up licking it off even though it tastes bad, but its worth a try.

Try a spray called Bitter Apple and is sold at Pet-co and you spray it on them (Not in their eyes) and it should prevent them from licking their paws. They don't like the smell of it and also try spraying White vinegar on the paws.  I spray it on furniture that my pug chews and she stops chewing it when i put it on.

My pug did the same thing. I use baby wipes on his paws 1-2 times a day and he is fine now. All pugs have some sort of allergies. Keep the baby wipes handy. They really help.

You can try two products, one is called Grannick'sBitter apple spray. I accidentally got this on my lips once while handling my ferret (which is what I use the spray for) and it is VERY bitter, I like sour candy and gum, but this is definitely a tear jerker. Just spray it on her paws (both of them, just in case she switches) Soon she'll learn this is unpleasant, you may have to use it to stop other behavior such a excessive chewing, especially around the base of the tail. The other type, which I haven't tried but comes pretty highly recommended is Fooey, It is the same deal, bitter tasting, but the pricing is different.
