It's worth two bucks.  $2 bills are uncommon but they're not exactly rare.  Keep it for it's novelty factor.

If it IS a $2 bill.  $2.  If it is a Silver Certificate, a bit more.  That Is a collectors item.  Where is it stamped with red ink and is it marked silver certificate?

Big Dave,

You can walk into almost any bank and and buy some off of them. Many (most?) banks have $2 bills in stock. Take care,

Two dollar bills are not rare at all-you can get as many as you want at your local bank (the same goes for half dollars and dollar coins).

A red stamped two dollar bill is a collectors item, as it is a United States Note (look at the top where it would normally say "Federal Reserve Note"). These kind of notes were issued along with silver certificates many years ago as a non-fluctuating unit of currency. When the silver standard was abandoned, Congress kind of forgot about them and they lived on. They were finally eliminated as redundant in the mid '60's-The Federal Reserve Notes did the same thing.

Twos were re-issued in 1976 for the bicentennial, and have been with us ever since. There were additional printings ("Series") in 1995 and 2003.

The two failed in circulation because the one was (and still is) around. With the one-dollar bill reduced to the value of a quarter in 1976 dollars, the time may be ripe to finally get rid of it and instead fully replace it with a dollar coin and the two dollar bill.

Interestingly, such a move would save the government about $750 million a year, possibly snowballing as time went on. This is due to the longer circulation of coins-a dollar coin will last 30+ years, but a dollar bill will only last a year and a half. Also, increased circulation of 50¢ pieces and the two dollar bill would bring this figure down even more, as it would lower the demand not only for one dollar bills (which currently comprise 60%+ of the bills in circulation), but decreasing the demand for coins as well.

All Congress has to do is act.

Yeah - I think many of the posts are missing the fact that the RED INK is the unusual part. We know that $2 bills are not truly rare in themselves.

My guess - you could probably easily get someone to buy it off you for 5 bucks.  So, that means they are worth at least 5 bucks! I have one of these too and was wondering the same thing.

The red print ones are NOT worth only two dollars. While 2 dollars bills are not uncommon and are only worth two dollars, the red print bills are rare and more valuble. It is probably worth between $20 and $30. but one in mint condition is worth about @40.

Your $2 bill with red numbers and a red seal is a United States Note, they are worth slightly more than $2 but not much more unless they are totally uncirculated or if there is a star in the serial number.
