Please help!!!!!!
I bought a yorky puppy from someone who failed to provide me AKC papers. Gigi  is now one year old and is picture perfect (and the personality to go with it). I want to breed her once and It hurts me to think that this purebred pet of mine doesn't have her papers (I saw her parents at the seller's house). Is there any way I can still register her?

If she already had papers and was registered then I don't know what you should do. However if she wasn't then go to: http://www.akc.org/registration/index.com and find the requirements you have to meat to register your dog. Also, may I suggest that you go with APR?(Americas pet registry) They are SOOOOO much better to work with then AKC! AKC took two months to send us a measly letter we had ordered while it took APR hardly a week. Every one that works with AKC hates them. We switched because they were so bad. For info on how to get papers at APR:
1. Phone @ 479-299-4418,
2. Email @ apr@aprpets.org,     or
3. Go to www.aprpets.org
Also don't breed your dog until she is at least two years old and make sure her and the sire are up to date on shots and have been checked for all the diseases that are seen in this dog. Since they tend to have alot of health problems this is especially important. Also make sure you know all you can about breeding, pregnant care, whelping and pups. It is alot of work and it is VITAL that you are as prepared as possible. Good luck!!!

APR and CKC (except the Canadian kennel club) are no good. The APR would register a cow if you wanted them to.

I would call the people who sold your yorkie to you. If they don't have the papers, i would assume your dog isn't registered. I would try to register with the AKC. Even though they may be tough to work with, more people are interested in AKC dogs. They are know to be healthier. Good luck!

hello,
I have had that happen to me once & I traced the parents through akc & $200.00 and eight months later I recieved my akc papers on my baby sandy ann she is a very beautiful yorkie & I waited unitl she was 2yrs & 3 months before I bred her, just so my daughter could have her own baby too. But to get back to the question you have to Know the breeders name & Both of the parents names & akc will help you but the breeder has to fill out a litter application form & submit it to Akc & then akc will send you the puppy papers.
OR go with APRI they are great people & they might be able to help you. or you can register your dog with a picture with ACA & if your dog looks like a purebreed they will reg. your dog
                 Good Luck & God Bless

AKC is not all it is cracked up to be! some people think if the dog is not AKC it is not as good, but that is not true. AKC is only as good as the breeders are honest, those papers can be too falsified unless DNA is proved. for most people they only want a good purebred pet and there fore CKC or other registeries are just as good or sometimes even better than AKC! the prices of CKC are much better than those of AKC, they are a lot quicker and seem to care about their club members. So I suggest CKC for your registering needs.

I like you am having the same situation. I had bought my Chihuahua believing that if I gave my money that in just 2 weeks I would be receiving the papers for her. I have tried to call the number for the actual owner and it is a false number.I do know the whereabouts of the daughter whom I had got the dog from. She has promised me everyweek that I have called her that the paper work has in fact been down, but still 2 1/2 months later I still have not received them. This has been a very large eye opener for me . I had wanted to breed these small dogs and to allow others to are the companionship that i have. I just hope that it doesn't detour me from getting any type of paper work so I can be able to sell them properly.

I have a question on this subject.  My bf and I are looking at a blue female shar pei puppy.  She is priced right and looks just like the puppies you see in the pictures.  Lots of wrinkles.   Her color is rare, she is a dark blue with the blue skin, gorgeous horse coat.  Only thing is she has no papers.  I looked at the ckc website listed above and looked the the breed standards and they do not show blue as a color.  We'd have to wait until she was 6 mos old anyways and at that time we will have her certified for her hips and her health.  We are trying to start a small kennel and would like her to be one of the founders but without being registered it's not always easy to sell the pups.  People look for quality and that's what we'd like to provide.  So is there another organization who would register this puppy for us?  Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

Your breeder should have registered their litter and had the papers for you to mail in. You need to call your breeder back and ask them for the paperwork. If they can not provide this try small claims court and report them to AKC.
