I once thought that it was the first day but since then  I have found out you count from the last day. When a dog is bred, it does not get pregnant right away. It takes awhile before the sperm will reach and fertilize the eggs. Some will get pregnant within a day or two of breeding while others won't for about a week. Because of this, you count from the last mating and it will be from 59-65 days depending on the dog.

i had a golden retriver and she was pregnant for 103 days and gave birth to a litter of 14 puppies. So it depends on the dog as to when she will have her puppies

My dog was pregnant for 45 days and had a litter of 10. It all depends on the dog.You just cant guess it would be on the sixty third day, cause its just like a woman when she is pregnant, you cant guess it will take 9 months. So i hope i helped you out a little bit good luck with your litter.
