Ooooh! I wrote a whole essay about this! And appeasement was one of the causes of World war 2 not World War 1! Anyway, the long and short of it is that by giving Hitler what He wanted the allies were actually making things worse! for starters it made Hitler more confident! When he marched his troops into the Rhineland he had no idea what was going to happen! He expected the French to retaliate and if they had he would have retreated and that would probably have stopped him all together! But they didn't! So Hitler became more confident!
Hitler was also privately  building up his armed forces which, as I'm sure you already know, was a direct breach of the treaty of Versailles! But even when Hitler was public about his rearmament the Allies did nothing about it! It was obvious that Hitler was getting ready for War but still the Allies kept disarming.
Previously england had said that if ever Czechoslovakia was attacked they would come and help out! but when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia England just ignored it! but England was also allied with Russia. The fact that England didn't help Czechoslovakia meant that Russia thought that if Hitler invaded them that England would ignore that too! This inspired Russia to become Allies with Germany therefor creating the 2 opposing sides!
Hopefully that should help! If not then it might give you some ideas!

yes. the policy of appeasement practiced by Britain and France encouraged Hitler to do various things such as bringing back conscription, which is in direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles, and sending troops back into Rhineland. even when he invaded Czechoslovakia, nothing was done to stop him!

One person who relied was completely ignoring the question. everyone knows those reasons for world war 2, if it was that easy to answer, would the question even be on here?
World war 1 was really a war of allies.  The whole thing started because the Arch ducke of Austria Hungria (Sir Francis Ferdinand) went into Sarajevo, Bosnia.  It all boils down to assasins waiting for him, and when his driver made a wrong turn, the Arch Duke and his wife were killed.
But thats heresay. The point is he was assasinated, and Austria hungria found out it was Serbia who did it.
Serbia was offered an ultimatum, they refuse, they run to russia, and then Austria Hungria runs to Germany, and so begins the alliances that started the war.  Germany invades Serbia, england and france are allied with russia, so all of Europe is thrown into chaos.
Serbia, Russia, vs  Austria and Germany and it fell apart from there. I have no idea how appeasement comes into it at all.
All of europe was separated into two alliances.  The Triple Alliance (Austria Hungria, Turkey, Germany)
And the second was the Triple Entent Alliance or the "allied powers"  (France, England, Italy, Russia) Keiser wilhelm kicked our butts with u-boats before we ever got into it.

Appesement caused world war 2 because firstly hitler invaded the Rhineland he said it was 1 of the most scariest time of his life as he thought the French might fight back but they didn't!!  This made Hitler more confident so he invaded Austria.  This also went well.  Whilst he was doing all of this France and England did nothing.  Then Hitler attacked the Sudentent land England and France agrees to give Hitler the country as long as he didn't invade anymore countries.  Hitler agreed but soon broke his promise as he invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939.  England and France now new they had to do something, but on the first off September 1939 Hitler invaded the west side of Poland as Russia invaded the other. FRANCE AND BRITAIN NOW DECLARED WAR.
