If the nails are bleeding after you cut them, then you cut them too short.  Have your vet or groomer show you the correct way to cut your dog's nails.

Yes, the above answer is right.

Dogs have a vein that runs through their nails!  You must have nipped the end of the vein and caused it to bleed.

Please ask your groomer or vet to cut them or show you how.  Cheers

You should never cut your dogs toenails without first being trained as you have found out you have cut them to short that is why they bleed!!

Okay Okay, seek professional help NEXT TIME, but what about now.  We know why the dog is bleeding.  The question was how do you stop it.

I'M a Groomer and its really easy..Sometimes if you turn the nail to the side you can see where the vein is. if its really dark and you cant see. there sometimes is a discoloration in the nail and you can usually cut there. if you don't have that. then you take a little tip off at a time until you start seeing a black circle in the nail..thats the vein don't cut any further. The vein will grow out with the nail if you don;t cut them on a regular basis...to make it grow back so you can cut the nail shorter you either have to walk the dog on concrete at least once or twice a week or get their nails trimmed about every 3weeks...cause even if they are long. doesn't mean you can take anything off them. If you don't want to wait that long for the veins to grow back. there is a procedure your vet can do where they sedate them and cut the nails back as far as they can then stop the bleeding. that way your dog doesn't feel anything!
if you really want to be shown. go to  any local groomer they can show you. cause if you keep making her bleed it can make it very difficult for a groomer of vet in the future to cut them. and if you do happen to make the nail bleed. just get some flour or baking soda and apply pressure. it works the same as quick stop type products but without the burning you get from it.

Making the nail bleed causes the dog severe pain.. don't do it unless you know what you're doing!
