Jay-Z's nickname Hova is short for J-Hova which is a play on the word "Jehovah", which is Hebrew for God.

hova does stand for Jehovah. Jehovah is God's name. Jehovah does not mean God in Hebrew though. Jehovah actually means "causes to become".

i think that jay z'snickname is SICK...Because he is saying his name is hova...and gods name is JEHOVAH...So Jay Z is calling his self god taking gods name...and you all are worshiping him and his style of music and not GOD AND JESUS...but i got a thing for yall go to this website exministry.com...and check it out...

H.O.V.A. stands for Jehovah but Jehovah is not Hebrew for God. Psalms 83:18 shows that Jehovah is the Almighty God's name. So the only true Almighty God the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, his name is Jehovah.

actually Jhova is Jay-z and Hovito put together Hovito, maens the one thats on top at w/e he does so hova is just short for hovito

The thing created can not be greater than its Creator. "I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah." (Ezekiel 38:23). So, JayZ is using God's name in vain. No one should use or refer to themselves using this Divine Name. JayZ'slyrics certainly do not represent Jehovah!!
