Wait until at least the second if not third "period" to breed your dog. This period is called heat. She will only breed when she is in heat. When her heat signs start it could be several days or up to 3 weeks before she allows breeding! She will most likely breed around a week after the signs start. When she allows breeding she will allow it for about the same amount of time. Periods in dogs differ alot from us humans as they last alot longer and come 1-2 times a year (6-10 months apart). I don't think you realize what you are heading into. Breeding has to be done carefully and the pregnant dog takes alot of care, feeding, exercise, etc. When she is ready to have pups you have to be with her and know what to expect so you can call the vet if something goes wrong. It could result in the death of the mom and the pups if you are irresponsible. Plus by the time the pups are gone to their homes(if they get one) you won't have made money after the cost of food and medicine. Please consider spraying your dog.

Hey check this out. I have been breeding pitbulls for over14 years and i guareentee you can breed your dog  on her first heat as long as she is 11 or 10 months. wait to breed her on her 2nd week of her heating process.and if she doesnt want to breed sometimes you have to force um but to me its torture.and when you breed her, breed her to the male until she starts to get aggressive with him, or even try it about four times she should have up to 10 babies my dog did

My male pitbull is 1 yr and 2 months. I let him breed with another pitbull but I'm not sure if he actually transfered any sperm. How long would it take for me to know whether or not to expect any puppies?
