If the Hydrogen cell in the Terminator explodes when it becomes unstable, why doesn't it kill Sarah in T1 when she crushes it, why doesn't it explode when he goes it the molten steel?

Well ok. Im pretty sure it wouldnt have gotten smashed in the first place because it was laying sideways and there was still a good couple of inches left. Also i dont even think the T-800 had the hydrogen fuel cells. I think only the T-850s had them.

A hydrogen fuel cell is not like a battery.
It requires constant replenishment of its internal reactants that are consumed.
Thus it can become unstable when either damaged by force or when its external fuel supply is cut & the internal reactants can no longer be replenished.
So the T-101 in Terminator 1 would most defiantly have exploded in the crusher.
As for the molten lava, the hydrogen cells located in the chest cavity in the T-101 would have ignited within seconds of reaching waste height at least, creating once again a small thermal nuclear explosion.

Easy!
the Terminator in T3 is a T-850.the first two are t-800's and use an Irridium power cell. The T-850 uses a Hydrogen power cell as it is more powerful.

After Reading the points above and with most movie's to take a serious approach to to continuity is usually fruitless, how ever!
For starter's Each T-800 combat chassis is constructed out of exotic parts' and metal's, The Crusher in T1 would have the effect of dislocating joint's and disrupting connection's In T2, the T-800 would have a thermal shutdown of it's fuel cell's, as in T3 we are shown two fuel cell, and in T2 the T-1000 spike's the T-800 disrupting it's power source

The T-800's endoskeleton does not contain hydrogen fuel cells. The T-850 does for improved power/energy and life span.

omfg THE TERMINATOR IN T1 AND T2 IS T-800, WITH A SMALL IRRIDIUM BATTERY WHILE THE T-850 IN T3 HAS 2 HYDROGEN POWER CELLS!

In the first to movies there is no mention of the fuel cells.  This suggests that the CYBERDYNE systems did not include the fuel cell.  However because of the change in the timeline, and the CRS created skynet it must have been them who included the fuel cell, which is why u only see them in TEMINATOR 3
