Last Sunday (2-30-04) evening, on our way home coming from a dinner from in-laws, i happened to run over a pile of ice w/c have been shoveled from the side road of the neighborhood. I was not driving fast coz i just started the engine & had made a left turn from an intersection a few meters from where i park my 1999 Dodge caravan w/ 63400 something mileage. That bump on the snow damage my transmission housing on the lower part of transmission case. My transmission fluid licked so fast like a open faucet, the engine stopped & we got stuck in the middle of the narrow road. A few minutes later I started the car & tried to park on the side road but w/ great difficulty coz the stirring wheel has become stiff & we all have to push it & w/ the help of another driver of the car on my back because cars have stater to lined up  to pass the road. I had no choice to avoid the snow in the middle bec. the road is narrow & cars parked on both sides.
The day after I had it towed to my suprised there's a big crack on my tramsmission & my fluid has been drained. My question is how brittel or soft or weak is the lower part of the dodge transmission that a pile of snow has damage it? Now the mechanic has quoted me of 15-2G to replace the entire thing. When I check on hat night if ever there was a stone or something solid or hard within that snow... there's none. It must have been a hardened snow. Can u pls. tell me what to do? do i have a legal recourse to Dodge to demand any w/ regard to the repair expenses. Bec as of now i'mreally low in my budget. My warranty has expired last year. Otherwise it will be sitting there in the garage waiting for miracle. If u can email me nixny2003@yahoo.com or nixbehmax2k@aol.com
