I'm kinda freaked out by how young you guys are. I'm 19 and just started considering it. Don't do it yourselves. There is tons of info on the web (about the dangers). Why don't you guys (under 18) simply put it out to your parents that if they don't help you get it done professionally, that you will do it yourself and they can't stop you. Your parents are smart, and won't want you doing it yourself. Talk to them about the research you've done. The risks and how they can be avoided. It's a chance for you to show your parents that you are mature. (Please be mature and weigh the risks carefully.) There is TONS of stuff on the web you can pull up to show your parents. Just try to win them over; and do it nicely. (Yelling and being whiny won't convince them to let you do it).

My Dad is letting me get my tongue pierced soon so I DOT have to worry about doing it myself (he knows if he doesn't let me I will do it myself!) but I know how it feels to really want a piercing enough to do it yourself.I pierced my ears 9 times, my left nipple, and my clit myself.(and the parents know about everyone of them!!) Befor I did any of them I asked a professional about the prosses. The tongue isn't hard to pierce! Look underneath your tongue. You have two veins running down either side of your tongue. Don't hit those!!! And use a proper needle. I would suggest looking at other tongue piercings before piercing your own. Also before piercing your tongue wash out your mouth with regular Listerine (none of that fancy stuff, it can cause irritation) and afterwards you must wash your mouth out with a mix of 1/2 Listerine and 1/2 water every half hour for a few days. Then you can cut down to every 2 hours. It takes about 2 weeks for the tongue to completely feel. Good Luck

hey everyone, im 14 and i REALY want my tongue pierced. i already have my bellybutton,nose,10 on my ears(including my industrial) and i want a tongue. neither my mom or dad will let my get it. my mom says im not mature enough to get one and i asked her if i might be able to get it done on my 15th birthday so i dont wanna jepordize that by doing it myself. my birthday is about 5 months away(january 3)but im not a patient person at all. i really wanna go to this one school and my dad is letting me go there but im afraid if i get my tongue pierced myself that he wont let me go there ne more =(. but i cant get it done professionally so i wanna do it myself but i am afraid i will hit a vein. i dont want my mom 2 c it at all so im wondering if i can hide it or not. if ne one can give me any advice or help me please IM me on capricorngrl103. thanx

I'd always wanted my tongue pierced, and my parents finally let me on my 16th birthday. It was a professional place, and they did everything correctly. Unfortunately, it's not for everyone. As soon as it was done, it bled a lot (according to the guy) and swelled up massively. I could barely breath. I was panicking and losing my cool, and people in the back who could hear me were leaving the shop. Sadly the worst was yet to come. I'm a good looking girl, always been popular with boys, etc, but not as much now. I can barely speak, or move my tongue, and it's been seven weeks. Two weeks ago I had the piercing removed and it's healed up, but the damage, according to my doctor is permanent. That is, for as long as I live. I can barely speak, and sound retarded. I have a problem kissing, and almost feel like I'm gonna choke if someone kisses me. I drool, like all the time, my mouth just fills up with saliva, so I need to always carry a tissue with me, held in my hand, to constantly wipe my mouth. My parents regret their decision so much, but try not to blame me for it. My dad spent nearly $20,000 to send me to a specialist in Geneva, but he says there's little they can do in order to make me speak right again. All because of a tongue piercing, which I don't even still have. My parents didn't bother suing the shop, they chatted with them and they understand it wasn't their fault. We're all wired differently. I had everything done right, but I had a reaction to it that most people don't. I'll never be able to sound normal again, ever. Remember that. Is it really worth it? Someone earlier said it will eventually go out of fashion. It will. Besides more and more complications are arising. One girl ended up with a brain absess. She nearly died. How I wish I'd not got my tongue pierced. People used to say I talked nice. Now they look at me like I'm retarded.

Hello everyone this is nonsense. I pierced my tongue 3 times and so far i have done it better then a profesional. Im a 13 yr old boy, i have my eyebrow, ear, and now tongue done, today ill be doing it for my fourth time. Heres the procedure of piercing it your self, 1) Wash your hands and brush your teeth 2) Wash your mouth out with mouth wash and water 3) Get a 14 gadge needle or a sweing machine needle (starts skinny then gets bigger) 4) Get a 2 inch bar bell because your tongue will swell up 5) OPTIONAL use ambesol or ice to numb your tongue 6) Use clamps or stick out your tongue as far as you can 7) Go in about 1 inch from the tip of your tongue NEVER PIERCE THE TIP IT CAN CAUSE EXTREME INFECTION AND PERMANENT TASTE/SPEECH PROBLEMS Put the needle up 8) Do whatever techinque helps you the best i coun'tto 3 then think about something i really like and push as hard as you can and as fast as you can. Don't ever do it slow because the muscles in your tongue will tense and it will be even harder to go threw 9)Once the needle is threw put the barbell at the bottom part of the needle and push up so the needle goes out and the barbell goes in. 10) Brush your teeth and wash your mouth out immeditaly. It may bleed but if theres large amounts of blood or if the bleeding persists immeditaly put ice and paper towels in mouth to stop bleeding 11) It may be sore for the next few days but its completly normal, i talked like donald duck for about 5 days after i had it done 12) if your trying to keep it from your parnets try sleeping at a friends or go to your local mall or movies a lot thats what i did 13)After about 2 weeks get a new barbell and put it in 14) Thats how you do it 15) If you have any questions PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not answer yourself please e-mail me at Clover_Kid13@yahoo.com and ill get back to youw ithin the hour...thx and have fun...by the way im startign a site on how to pierce thigns...ill let you all kno when its up

hey all! i was just reading some things bout self-piercing my belly button, and somehow stumble upon self-piercing of the tongue as well. first off, i want to tell ANYONE that is even considering piercing their tongue themselves is plain STUPID. secondly, all of you guys complaining out there are like 13 or 14! im 16 and have wanted my tongue pierced ever since my older sister's friend got his done (she's 9 years older than me, and i was like 8 at the time). its something that has always attracted me, and i plan on getting it pierced. but i will get it done professionally. granted, my moms not too thrilled with it. shes even said before that she wont let me. but think of the other alternatives, rather than doing it yourself. talk to a friend's parents and see if they'll keep your secret cool, get a fake id, if you're a chick, work your way with the male piercers (most wont id when its chicks that look older than they are and theyre flirting). another idea, theres lots of people in your community im sure who are interested in piercings, just like you. and there are such things as apprenticeship (however the f*ck you spell it!). there are other ways around it. just DONT pierce it yourself, please. i know that theres all those stories out there of people who did it themselves and it was OK, but there are too many chances. do you really want to loose your taste? you could never get that satisfying "mmmmm" feeling when you eat chocolate pudding, or ice cream. it would just be another textured feeling in your mouth. or what about paralyzing yourself? do you really want your high school pictures to be all messed up, because only half of your mouth is smiling, and same with your eyes (they say true beauty comes from the expression in your eyes....but what if you only have control over the expression in one of your eyes). its possible to paralyze 1/2 your freakin face piercing your own tongue if you hit veins or anything like that. and in the worst case scenario, you can die. its unlikely, and there havent been many cases of it, but there are those few. and what if you were one? if you want to pierce anything else, go ahead. but be safe with it. i did my ears, my nose, and my lip. but i did it with sterilized needles and sterilized jewelry. i would sound like a hypocryte if i told you not to do your own piercings, but thats not what im saying. im just saying DONT PIERCE YOUR TONGUE YOURSELF!!. save up your money, find someone who will take you, and get it done professionally. body piercings is an art, but only if done correctly, theres no need to take the chance with your tongue.

I finally talked my parents into letting me get my tongue done. I just turned 15 and i have been begging since I was 11. My friend Stacie had pierced her own {which I highly discourage you to do... she pierced another one of my friends and hit a vein} and it just made my desire to get it done even bigger. I finally talked my mom into letting me get it done and she took me to a local tattoo shop. They were all really nice and very clean. I went in the back and swished with Listerine. Next, the guy clamped my tongue which was actually a lot more painful than the piercing itself. Before I knew it the barbell was through and he was screwing the ball on. It didn't hurt as bad as I had anticipated...but everyone is different {I tend to like piercings A LOT so I've had worse pain.} My tongue was swollen for like a week. Try to refrain from talking and eat a lot of crushed ice and Popsicles. Make sure you constantly are using Listerine diluted 50% with water and salt water is also good. But for everyone who is thinking of doing it yourself... please don't idiotic! I've seen what happens if your screw up.... I have had my tongue pierced three times and i am now 16. The first time was in Germany when i was 15 where they don't check for ages and i did it professionally and they charged me about 75 dollars. my parents found out and made me take it out after a month when they noticed. then i turned 16 and moved back to DC and wanted it again but you have to be 18 so I did it myself. It came out crooked and i redid it myself with a thick safety pin(i know not smart) but it worked and i have it again and i have a feeling my parents wont be happy if they find out but they don't pay attention much to my mouth and it has been 4 months and i love it. yea i have like everything pierced.my first hole [2 years old] 2nd and 3rd at the same time when i was 5. 4th hole when i was 9 my eye brow when i was 10 my nose i did my self like 3 weeks after i got my eye brow pierced and then i got my belly button when i was 12 and then i got my labret 3 days after that then i got my and then i got my tongue pierced when i was 13 and then like 3 weeks after during one of my classes me and my friend were bored so we pierced my tongue web and now i have 4 balls to play with in my mouth lol its fun..14 i got both my nipples pierced and then 4 weeks after i got both my nipples pierced i got my clit pierced and that hurt. but wat eles should i get pierced lol i dont think i have enough. well tell me if u have any thing so ask bout any thing that u want pierced i have almost all of them so dont be shy and ask me ok bubi guys ps. and im still 14 tuning 15 in november just in case your wondering

I had my tongue pierced before but I let it close because my stage manager(I was in my school play) wanted me to because it didnt fit my character. I didnt do it myself, but I didnt have it professionally done either. My friend who used to work at Spencer's, and did ear and belly button piercings, did mine with a regular sterilized sewing needle. Just remember to be careful and clean it well and you should be fine.

my friend has had it done twice. the first time her dad said she had to take it out and wait until she was 16. she never had any problems but she got it done professionally. if you dont you could get seriously hurt. you could DIE. and you guys that have your stories of wanting it done soooo badly: i had to wait because i was on a blood thinning med.(comadin) i didnt want to wait either and now im glad i did. my doc informed me that if i got it done while i was on the comadin, i could have died and i definetly would have been in the hospital. if you really want it done then tell your parents. keep asking and tell them that your considering doing it yourself. they might listen, if they love you then they wont want you to do it yourself.

first things first, if your gonna pierce your tongue yourself, then make sure u know how to and i'drecommend seeing someone do it first or see pictures or something cuz sometimes people can't understand what words mean. even better, if you have a friend who has pierced a tongue before, get them to do it, you'll feel alot better knowing they know what they r doing. second, you can get barbells at wal-mart, i think hot topic, spencers, celebration(if you know what that store is), and lots of places, just look at the jewelry. third, take care of it, and rinse it alot. and lastly, i got mine done yesterday, it barely hurt, but one word of advice.. have lots of paper towels so you can take care of the drooling..

Omg whoever wants to pierce their own tongue..i'm telling you right now, DONT. A friend did mine for me 2 days ago and it didnt go proper at all, it hurt so much, i'm 14 and i cried and freaked out because my friend thought the needle was in the whole way but it wasnt and we didnt kno how to get the rest through because it just wouldnt go. it looks fine now, but honestly, if your under age and you want it done, go find someone on the street and ask them to sign for you if your parents wont let you, and hiding it from them isnt a problem. Its nto hard at all, unless your screaming in their face they wont see it. and if your still going to pierce it on your own, buy andesol, its numbing gel for your mouth , you can buy it at shoppers drug mart or anywhere like that.and put ice cube chips in your mouth after its pierced, and dont eat any sweets.

i am 15 years old and my mom gave me the choice of either getting a tattoo or getting my tongue pierced so i chose a tongue piercing now i have been researching for the past 3 weeks on tongue piercing to gain knowledge of the effects, the cautions and the harm it could cause if its not done right now i know that i haven't got it done yet but you people who want to do it yourself are really really STUPID!!! i honestly hope that your tongue falls out. why would you want to take a chance on PERMANENTLY HARMING yourself that is so stupid thats why the people who do the piercing are called PROFESSIONALS they know what they are doing and how to do it right so don't be stupid if you have to wait then wait don't do anything stupid its not worth it plus just becauz ur friends did it their self and everything turned out fine guess what ur NOT THEM!!! just because their okay doesn't mean that you will be you body's are totally DIFFERENT so why take the risk. if your not going to listen to me then at least listen to a PROFESSIONAL its for your on good

Oh my goodness, first of all NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE A PIERCING GUN TO PIERCE ANYTHING BESIDES THE SOFT PART OF YOUR EARS, FOR SEVERAL REASONS: 1. The severe action of the piercing gun shatters cartilage instantly, and basically fractures the area, and takes years to heal. 2. Have you ever seen a respectable and professional piercing artist pierce a labret , nose, or navel with a piercing gun? NO. The first reason for this being the type of jewelry inserted into the hole is NOT the same as a plain old earring, which is what goes into the piercing gun. A navel hole is curved. A labret has a flat backing. Etc. 3. The type of jewelry is not correct, and can result in severe infections. -------------------------------------------- Anyways, I am 24 and have 14 ear piercings, nose pierced, tongue pierced, navel pierced, both nipples pierced, labret, lip, and I have a tiny ring pierced into the webbing of each of my big toes and my second toes. I KNOW MY PIERCINGS. Everyone out there needs to listen to me when I say GO PROFESSIONAL OR NOT AT ALL. I do not care if you have to go somewhere and make an adult friend or convince an aunt or uncle to pose as your parent so you can get the damn thing. Get a clear barbell if you freaking have to, but don't be an idiot and risk loss of taste etc.

Hey guys!! Make sure that you do watch what your doing if you are doing it yourself. I do piercings for a living and here are some tips... first make sure you have sterile needle and jewelry... I would say that it would be better to get it done by someone who knows what they are doing... but if not make sure you put it atleast 1/2 an inch and up to an 1 inch back on your tongue... also try to do it at a slight slant towards the back of your mouth. This helps the barbll to find a comfortable area in your mouth to rest and it makes it less obvious and less uncomfortable when you are talking... watch out for veins! and keep it clean... if you have any other questions I would be glad to answer them before you do it!! Hey KIDS I'm 25 and have had my tongue PIERCED 5 times! I like the pain what can I say! Anyway, pain isn't the right word. It comes and goes so fast you don't really feel it. But if you wanna feel the pain get it done tons of times cause the scar tissue hurts when you get it done again. But here is my advice! Unless you are like a HARDCORE Punk/Rocker/Metal Head, meaning you have TONS of piercings, and tattoo's and this is WHO YOU ARE! Than seriously, don't get it done. Think of a tongue piercings like a tattoo! sure it heals but the TOP never does. I have this deformed taste bud! Anyway, if you are going to get it done. Save up money and go somewhere. If you save up enough you might be able to pay off the piercer if your underage! But don't do it your self! It'snot worth the risk or INFECTION (there is a major vein in your tongue and you could LOSE THE WHOLE THING), Paralyzing your tongue ( CAN'T TALK OR TASTE) or getting it so screwed up you won't want to talk cause it looks freakish! Save up money, or find a friend that is a professional!

Hey guys. DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. my friend did it herself and hit a vein in the bottom of her tongue and now she can't taste anymore. not to mention that she HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE THE TWO BIG VEINS UNDER YOUR TONGUE ARE MAJOR ARTERIES (that means that they carry a lot of blood). If you do enough ass kissing, and seriously do a lot of research, you might be able to get it done, and if not? WAIT. if you still want it after a long time, GET IT DONE. if your parents really won't let you get it, just wait until you're 18, or go online and do some research! like, present a project! it's summer now, no one has to worry about homework and everyone has a lot of free time, so just get some info on it and present it to your parents, (like the history of piercings, what they signify, why you want it, how safe it is..) yeah.

I have my tongue done, and i am also a pro. percier. DO NOT do it yourself. If is VERY dangorous. yes i wanted to do myself when i was younger also, but then my friend died because she did it herself. Yes you will drull ALOT, and you will also bleed. For the first few days it will hurt .. and be sowllen. Mine was about the size of my thumb. use mouth wash with alcahol, and somekinda acid . It will clean it VERY well and kill all the germs. You can also you HOT salf water ( with TONES of salf) to decrease the swelling . BUT PLEASE DONT BE STUPID AND DO IT YOURSELF !!!!!!!! (and by the way yes your mothers/parents/w.e will no .. my sister tryed that stunt.. and it dident work becuase her tounge was sowllen .. and couldent talk corectly .. DUHHH )

ok look kitties ... i peirced my own tongue and i had no prier (SA?) experiance... it has been about a week and a half and mine is doing great at first i was worried becasue it got really swollen but that is normal ... but i used lots of ice and listerine and water and tylenol and i got through it ...all i did was took my tongue and flattened ... took the 14 Gage needle and stuck it from bottom to top ... once it was in i left it in for about a 2 1/2 to 3 mins. and then took it out ... when you first pierce your tongue you are supposed to use a long bar but since i didnt have one i just used a short bar .... when i took the needle out i immediately put the bar in ... it was a little hard but it was ok ... once you have it in dont play with it for about 8-10 days because thats how long it will take to heal ... the swelling should go down though in about 4-5 days or less ... dont take it out for the first 2 days but regularly wash your mouth out ... dont eat anything with lots of salt ... chili ... and thing hot or spicy ... cold foods are best ... you wont be able to swallow so apple sauce is always good ... and yeah .... dont get a cheap bar cause you could be allergic to them so spend at least like 8 or more dollars on it ... but all i have to say is if you want to do it yourself make sure you do it fast ( so it wont hurt) and if you can get it professionally done do that but if not follow everything ^ ... alrighteh well good luck to everyone who does ...

listen i really need help...anyone who can ..please IM me at xFellFoRiTx3...ok ..so i am 13 yrs old and my cousin who is 17 just got her tounge pierced and didnt tell anyone except me and her friends..she wont take me to get mine done..then again i never asked her!..i know I'm young and everything but i really want it done, my dad will definitely not let me, and i dont know my mom, so basically im going to need to sneak it!!!..i want to kno if there is a place i can get it done, where im aloud to be underage, and i dont need parents permission!..to me it seems impossible! but is there anyone out there who knows if i can get a professional or sum1 that has done it b4 to people ..for me..!! Here is how to pierce your tongue SAFELY!!!! There is a risk of hitting veins when you pierce your tongue, and if you hit them you could bleed to death, and this is completely true. However this little bit of info is just to sway you from doing it yourself. The veins are way over to the side of your tongue and way in the back, unless you are doing some kind of crazy piercing you are fine doing it. Be sure not to put it too far forward or you will have a lisp. You'll want to order a 14 gage needle and round forcepts (plastic if you want to save money), you can find all of this on the internet for about 4.50 total. I buy all my stuff at bigdaddystat2.com. Most of all be sanitary, DO NOT REUSE NEEDLES!!!! If you are piercing someone else do not come in contact with their piecing with your bare hand and do not touch their blood. Be careful and enjoy!!

haha.....LOSERS.....i mean com'nim 13 and luckly my parents are lettin me get it done.....TODAY!!!!!.....n e ways i have my monroe and im gettin my tounge.....onve again a YAY!!!!!......but for u other 13 & 14 year olds if theres not a parent that will take u im sure u have a cuz or sumthin above the age of 18 that will take u to get it done.......and if not juss wait it out untill ur of legal age or ur parents will let u.......DONT PIERCE IT URSELF!!!!......my friend did and she had to have surgery and have a piece of her tounge removed....now she can hardly eat or talk......FOREVER!!!! so dude and dudettes get over urselves and take my and the other people against "piercin it urself" advice

Hey, listen! I pierced my own tongue when I just turned 14. No it doesnt hurt. Yes I did mine perfect. But trust me, wait until your parents say yes. They may seem impossible right now, but overtime they will loosen up, especially if you research it and tell them really cool facts or something. Anyways, my mom caught me right away cause I could talk normal the next day and had to take it right out. Im 16 now and my parents have agreed that I can now b/c I got straight A's, but my point is that when I went and got a different piercing a year ago, a proffesional piercer told me I was extreeeemly lucky to have not hit the huge blood vein in my tongue that would have killed me. Trust me, just wait a little and try approaching your parents differently. They wont agree right away, or soon, but your just going through a faze, so dont stress the wait too much. Good Luck!

A couple of years ago i decided that i REALLY wanted my tongue pierced, of course my parents said no. I have done my nose and eyebrow myself so i went ahead and did my tongue as well, that was a mistake. for one thing it hurt so badly and i couldnt get the needle all the way through at first, and once i did and i put the bar in, there was quite a lot of blood the bleeding carried on through the night and by morning my tongue was numb and very swollen i could hardly talk, and i even found it hard to breath. My mum took me to hospital, and then i passed out. The next thing i remember was being in hospital with a numb tongue. The bar had been taken out and then the doctor came in and told me i had hit one of the nerves, he said that eventually the actual feeling in my tongue would return but my taste never would. Two years later i can feel if something is cold or hot and if i'm kissing my boyfriend but i taste nothing, and unless u have experianced this yourself then u cant understand what its like. I dont like going out for meals and spending my money on something i cant enjoy, so a lot of the time i decline invites from my friends. I was a idiot for doing it and anyone else who thinks they r good enough to pierce their own tongue r STUPID. This hasnt just happened to me either, a guy at my school pierced his own tongue and it split, and my friends sister also did her own and damaged one of her nerves, not as badly as mine though,my step-sister also tried to do her own tongue and it bled so badly she passed out and almost died from blood loss . NEVER pierce your own tongue or any other part of your body i have taken out my other piercings and only have studs on my ears now, go and get it done my someone who knows what they r doing, but even then there are risks, and if your parents wont let you get it done wait untill your 18, i paid the price for being a idiot and all the other retards on here thinking of doing it will too.

My friend had her tounge pierced and it made me want mine done. My mom wouldnt let me so i did it myself, i didnt even use anything sharp. I used a actuall tounge bar !! It hurt quite abit, but afterwards it looked so kool ... and hardly swelled up at all. I mean ive pierced everything, from my nose, ears, belly, tounge, web, lip, nipples, and navel and they all rock. The only one so far ive actually had done pro was my tragus, and that hurts alot atm. only got it done yesterday but it looks the mac !! But anyways, i dont think theres any major harm in piercing you tounge yourself. And ive got full sense of taste in my mouth. Chow for now x Jema x {If anyone has any questions add me!!}

i have had my tounge pierced for about 4 weeks now and i am sooo happy i got it done. my parent didnt find out until a week after i got it done. i was so scared they were going to freak out and when my mom saw it she was so kool about it that i almost passed out! if you want my advice dont pierce it yourself even if you have all the right things to do it with and you know how to take care of it there is still a big chance some thing could go wrong. for the first couple of days everything i ate tasted like metal. b/c i had a friend pierce it for me i was so scared that i had hit something and i wouldnt be able 2 taste anymore. im lucky b/c now everything taste normal but b/c of those first couple of days i have realised what i did was dumb. dont get me wrong getting your tounge pierced is totally worth it if you get it done professionaly. i love food and no hole in my tounge is better than the taste of good food. Its your decision!!!!!!!!

i highly reccommend that you people that have pierced yourself, do not encourage others to do so as well, i dont know what source of thinking lead u guys to teach others this but its obviously not common sense, so u can poke a hole in ur own skin.good 4 u. buy how do u kno tha person that u r advising to pierce themselves isnt a heavy bleeder or will do it precisly as a pro would...my suggestion and advice, go to a professional, a R E A L pro, not ur frend that likes to poke holes in ppl for fun,but if you feel as if its no prob to risk bleeding to the point of death or close to it, or if u think ur not at risk of infection which could possibly lead to the loss of your tongue if the infection is that bad then go ahead and risk it..a real professional is the safest way to go about this..i have many piercings myself...done by pro...now piercing ur ear urself doesnt mean anything, it's just cartilage, but ur tongue is a muscle consisting of veins that could seriously affect you if damaged...so just ask your parents, go scrub for $50 or wutever tha studio charges..and get it done safely and professionally....~wun~ xoxo * a s h l e y *

When I was 16 I wanted to get my tongue pierced, but my mom said no. She said I had to wait till I was 18. So I just stopped thinking about it after ahwile because I knew I couldn't get her to change her mind. Then when I was 18, I brought it up again and she said I could since I was 18. But then she thought about it and changed her mind. She said if I wanted my tongue pierced I'd have to wait till I moved out. Well, that was towards the end of senior year, so I knew I'd be living with her for awhile, so I changed my mind and got my belly button pieced instead. Now I'm 20 and I just got this job and there's a girl at work who has hers pierced and I got to thinking about it again and now I want it again! When I see tongue rings, I want one! I am enjoying my belly button piercing and I love getting new jewely for it, but I really want my tongue pierced too! I think I will study it more online then ask her again. I'll ask her if I can if I pay for it myself and my boyfriend takes me. My boyfriend doesn't care if I get it done so he might take me if I can. He didn't even want me to get my navel done but he ended up being okay with it. My mom will prolly tell me I need to save my money for a car. Sorry so long! Thanks for reading! Bye!

Oki...im gonna turn 14 in a couple of days and I'vewanted to get my tongue pierced for like 3 years...i decided that im gonna get it done when i get my braces off in like 7 months...SO IM SOO EXCITED! but u see...im gonna try and go get it done! gettin it done urself is STUPID! i did my ear piercings myself (3 in each ear) and it didnt hurt at ALL but u know..thats ur EAR!! ur tongue is a muscle and if u get one little thing wrong u mess everything up! my parent's friend's daughter got hers pierced, and it got infected and because the infection was sending way to much pressure to the brain, they had to do surgery on her and take part of the skull off so they could relieve the pressure!! trust mee...u dont want dat 2 happen to u! even tho the procedure to get it done doesnt hurt, the recovery from the surgery does! my parents wont let me get my tongue pierced, but i found this profesional place that doesnt require parental permission! DONT EVER CONSIDER DOING IT YOURSELF!! only REALLy lucky ppl are successful when they pierced their OWN tonguee...dont b so god damn desperate! u can wait...trust mee...i've waited 3 years and nothing happened! and actually..its almost been 4 years! so CHILL and get it done professionally cuz the risks of doing it urself just arent worth it!

well i pierced my tongue before, by myself, it didn't hurt except for the very last piece of skin underneath, you want to use a hollow needle, i pierced my belly button 3 times, but the 4th time i got it don't profesionally...when i did my tongue, the barbel i had was to big, so i had to take it out i still have one other piercing needle, so when i get a barbell for my tongue I'm gonna do it again.and for all you ppl saying don't do it yourself, no disrespect, but you probably have a better chance of just saying hope your tongue falls out or something, telling them not to do it isn't gonna change there minds, I'm 16 and i wanted my tongue pierced since i was like 13, but i didn't wanna look like a slut so i waited for a few ears before i actually knew what i was doing... hope it works out for all you hopefuls, just be careful if doing it yourself! =)

well i got my tongue percied and trust me i know how it works, well about a year ago i got it done like for fun about 5 times i would get it done then take it out and over and over, i am not saying its ook! its actually very wrong and i was stupid! and ur probibly thinking how can i go through pain over and over and i am just 14 now well i would get it done with an eargun, ya that seems unpro. but he didnt damage anything! but its so much less painfull than a needle! the only thing u should take care of is the 2 vains on the sides and the one in the middle the one that connects the tongue with the bottem part u cannot peirce over anyone them !!!!!! dont ever do that cause it can cause permenent damge like loos ur sence of tast or even feel!! but if i were a peircer i wouldnt use anestetic cause u can damage something and then not feel it! i know! it would be painfull but there are sertain ones that make it numb just for a bit! which i would use! and i still have mine in and i am keepin it and not takin it out! and anotherthing if u peirce it with a gun u peirce it and then keep it for 3dayz not 2 OR 1 no 3 and then u change it, by the second day it would be dug in but the results are great afterword goodluck and get it done!! :-)ya and one more thing u can get these tansperant ones so ur parents wont see them!

I know why everyone is having a big deal with people piercing there own tongue and saying to go to a professional. Those people there experienced but most of them are just doing what they think looks right. Look at any website about tattoo/piercing parlors and it tells you that you have to have some big degree. Plus if you would do it yourself u know the needle is sterile, and u know u are going to be more . Just make sure to keep it clean and use tongs or something to clasp tongue so u hit the two big veins. doing it myself this .. the only thing worried about is hitting the veins, but it seems from all my research that there are only 2 major ones. But thats it..IM out

I'm going to re-state what many people have said: DO NOT PIERCE A TONGUE YOURSELF. Trust me on this one, GO TO A PROFESSIONAL. If you're too young, then wait. Plain and simple. I'm an apprentice currently, and I can genuinely tell you that tongue piercings have way too much that can go wrong. I started out doing DIY piercings before I got my apprenticeship, and I would never do a tongue piercing without the professional training. You 13 and 14 year olds need to do more research if you genuinely think you can do something like this yourself. A statistic for you: over 75% of DIY tongues and navels reject. Be prepared for that statistic. Just go and get it done professionally; if you aren't old enough, then wait.

ok i don't know about any of u but u have a major artery in your tongue just get some money and go get it done professional and infections ur tongue gets infected u don't have very long to get rid of the infection i did my nipple and it got infected and since your mouth carrys every germ possible so if ur toooooo young wait a few doys months years whatever god knows i did i waited 2 years to get my tongue did and i'm slowly starting my long time in getting all my piercings i can only carry one infection at a time that you to my damn mom infections kill just remember that before u start being dumb esp. in your tongue ur other parts i wouldn't worry about but my god don't do your tongue yourself. unless ur my friend and i have a damn thought on what i'm doing and how to take care of it

seems like most of you are kind of retarded...i mean think about it, your parents say you cant get a piercing, theyve lived more than you have they know whats right for you so why the fck do u wanna be like "oh poo then i'll do it myself. woo im a rebel!" Idiots. I personally have nothing against piercings but if your parents dont let you then just wait till ur a bit older ur not gonna die if u dont have one..and another thing, these advices that some ppl are giving that its a do-it-yourself kind of thing, its cause maybe they were a bit lucky. what if you miss the point and hit a vein? u wanna risk ur life just to look cool? hello i'm 17 and i'm getting my tongue pierced in three weeks. Just out of concern i strongly recommend that nobody does a tongue piercing on their own, it could cause serious damage. If you hit a vein you could could bleed to death, if it gets infected your tongue could swell and soffocate you, or if you dont have the right equipment you could become very ill. They may seem like drastic and rediculous affects but its all true. If your only 13 please wait till your older and get it done professionally theres no hurry, you have all the time in the world and it will feel even better when you do get it done because you would have waited so long. If your parents get mad about you having it done at least they wont get even more angry for doing it yourself. Thats just my advice. Thank you.

k well i am 16 and my rents are totally for all piercing except my toungue... two of my friends got it pierced a couple weeks ago and they told me all about how they did it so i am going to pierce my own tonit... i currently have an ice cube in ma mouth and have already numbed my tongue a little with baby orajel and i can barely feel it .. i hear that it dosnt hurt at all but i am dumbing it anyways just in case ... i have a super thick needed that i bought sterilized already and is still in a a package and i am going to use it... i only have a cheap ring for it but i am getting a new one tommorrow... in a minuite i am going to use listerine and i already have a half half mixx wit water for afterwards but i am going to pierce mine any time now so i will add another comment as soon as i am done piercing it to tell you all how it went... k and i kno to watch out for the veins... well here i go i will write again soon

Im 16 and I got my mom to say yes and I am so scared it will hurt until I went to www.youtube.com and typed in "tongue piercing" in the search box.It lets you watch videos of people getting it done. Like 1 out of 50 flinched in the video..the other 49 didnt move an inch. So now that I seen how QUICK and easy it was and how it didnt hurt other people im going to get it next Wednesday for $10. Im serious im the biggest baby in the world.The doctors had to hold me down when giving me a shot at 14 so ya I hate needles but I got my belly button done and now if im going to get it as chicken as I am than anyone can. Im serious those videos on youtube really helped me build up the courage to do it. Dont do it yourself..you can hit something and be paralyzed or cant talk for the rest of your life if you do something wrong. Go get it done..it is I swear to you only 3 seconds long. Breath in and breath out and its done.

OK, if your carefull you should get a clamp, they only cost like 5 bucks and you can get them off lots of peircing websites, than u tighten the clamp onto a spot that has no vaynes. U can look on the bottom of ur tongue for them. Buy a 16-14 gauge needle at ur local hardware store, and pierce fast through the middle of the circle of the clamp.Before you take the "hollow needle" out, put your tounge barbell under it and quickley, in one motion, push up, then sqrew on the top of ur ring! Honestley, ive never had it done but i want to open a tatoo parlor when im older and ive been doing lots of research, and i know a couple people who have had it done.its not supposed to hurt any worse than an ear peircing. i got my tongue pierced and i read all the risks first but nowhere said n e thing about what happened to me. my tongue was fine after it was pierced but a week later it started bleeding badly and was rushed to hospital. They took the tongue bar out cos i could have bled to death and said i would need stitches, luckily they stopped the bleeding with out them but getting the bar out with forceps was about 10 times more painful than getting it pierced in the first place. i would love it done again but there is NO way im going to risk going through all that pain again. getting it done wasnt so bad but with 2 doctors pulling at it when it hadnt healed THAT DOES trust me. oh and dont do it yourself if u hit a blood vessel u will bleed to death.

im 15 and i have my tongue pierced. the best advice i can give is DONT DO IT YOURSELF. it didn't hurt nearly as much as i thought it would but the hours after and definatly painful. THE PROCEDURE: you go in, they'll check your tongue with a flashlight to make sure that you have no veins in the way, and if you do they simply will not piece it. if you're good to go, you must rinse your mouth out with listerine for 30 seconds to basically eliminate any bacteria *THIS DOES NOT NUMB YOUR TONGUE, after that you'll go and sitdown and your piercer will situate the needles and whatnot, he/she will dry your tongue and put the clamps on until they find a good/central spot to pierce(THE CLAMPS DONT HURT, THEY ARE MERELY AN UNCOMFORTABLE NECESSITY), next, they'll pierce you, put on the jewellery, get you a drink, then listerine, and you're done. virtually painless. NEXT COMES HELL. the following days are brutal to say the least i couldn't eat, and i could barely swallow a slushie. however, i managed, and i'msure you will too. ice will be your best friend, however dairy products will cause swelling. :)

instructions: so you want to do it yourself. well, goto mspiercing.com (i thinks thats right, google it) goto the tools and supplies area, buy the toughe piercing forcepts. their like 6.99 and 2$ for shipping, and get a sterile 14 gauge needle. you want to pierce your touge dead in the middle(side to side middle not front to back middle), and look at the bottom good. you need to miss the 2 veins on either side. it's best to have some one else do it for you, so they can see what their doing. you should make the piercing as straight down as possible and in frot of or just to the side of your frenulum (the web like thing thats under your tounge. don't hit it) other than that, its all pretty simple. i'm guessing if you are that worried about hitting the veins you can lay down and have your friend pierce it from the bottom up. the hardest part about doing it your self without forcepts is holding your tounge out. you will probably jump and pierce it crokked if you do it yourself, like i did the first time i did my lip. so have a friend do it. and not the kind of friend that would stick your vein on purpous to watch you bleed... and check this out: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart/piercing-faq/jewelry/partC/

Ekk, okay. So I'm13 and i really want my tongue pierced, but my parents have repeatedly said no to me. I've got my bellybutton, hand web, 5 on my ears, Snake bites and 9 in my arm. My parents think that I'mnot mature enough to pierce my tongue and that it is highly dangerous and stupid. So, i was wondering if i should just back down on my parents word and pierce it or wait the 5 years to get it professionally. I'm not a very patient person and i really want it done. I've bagged my mom since i was 11 to get it done but she keeps saying no. She won't even let me get my eyebrow if i paid for it myself, but my mom is highly against piercing even though she has them. -.-' Urgh, i think i might just get my friend to do it, but is it worth it?
