I tried to do myself. I'm not tough enough. I pushed the needle through, but the ring didnt fit. I dont want to do it again.

If you numb your tongue with ice first it hurts less. Just have like 3 ice cubes for 10 minutes in your mouth.

im actually thinking of piercing my tongue myself in 2 days.  Im only 13 and i cant get it professionaly done so im going to do it myself.  I have done all my piercing my self so far ear, labret, side of lip, and nipples.  I have friends that did it themselves.  The procedures are quite simple.  All u hav to do is find a friend that has it pierced. make sure u do it in the rite spot. put the needle thru fast other wise your tongue muscles will move around and it will get messed up. make sure its straight and not hitting any veins.  Ok good luck l8r

Hey i pierced my tongue myself and im only 14 and its just as good as a professional piercing. You should do it if you want it real bad. All you have to do is check out ur tongue for veins and make sure u found the rite place where u wanna pierce itand stick the needle threw. It doesnt hurt and you dont need to numb it and then when its pierced wash ur mouth out with listerine and water mixed together. Oh and ull drul all over the place when u get it pierced. lol good luck if u do it

DON'T pierce it yourself! I'm getting it done in June and friends have advised me to go to a tattoo parlour that has good ratings. u could do it wrong and get it all infected then you'd talk weird for like AGES!!

hey as long as you know how to do it, go for it . i got mine done 3 days ago and its doing fine it didn't hurt at all, just when it started to swell it felt a bit weird but you'll get use to it and love it. just watch out for veins and make sure you take care of it everytime you eat or drink anything but water(or smoke) you gotta rinse your mouth out with half mouth wash half water because if you use full strength mouthwash without dilluting it you could get thrush or you could get chemical burns on your tongue .if you are going to do it be safe about it !

if your thinking about piercing your tongue yourself its not the best idea. i have pierced everything on my body myself nose nipples and belly but i wont do tongue! im going tomarrow with my friend to get it pierced at a local piercing place. it doesnt hurt atall untill a couple days after when its healing ! i just suggest not doing it yourself my friend pierced it herself and it got infected and now she has no sense of taste. if you are to young to go to a tattoo place you can always buy a fake id ... thats what i did.

Dont... do it... yourself.

Should you strike one of the two veins in your mouth, you can permanently lose your sense of taste.   Period.  

Think you're cocky enough to take the risk?  You're retarded.   Simply wait it out, or talk to your parents.  No use risking permanent damage before you are even 18.

I had my tongue dun yesterday and i cant believe that i didn't feel a thing??? People say it doesnt hurt and you dont beleave them till you have had it done. but really i didn't feel anything. if you are old enough and want it done don't think about it just go in get it done   it looks cool??

Hey im 15 years old and im about to be 16 years old in 11 more days and i have been after my mom 2 say yes that i can get my tongue pierced (PROFESSIONALLY)on my bday and i finally got her 2 say yes but the only thing now is i have seen pics of the procedure and it looks like it really hurts and thats the only thing that kinda scares me. so anyone 1 of ya peeps that gots any info please let me know thanx

All you little kiddies who think that doing your own tongue is cool, are stupid. There are so many potentially harmful things that could go wrong and if you're dumb enough to try it, I hope they happen to you. Even if you don't hit veins or anything, if everything isn't completely sterile, you run at a very high risk of infection. The few of you little ballsy kids who did it yourselves and didn't have any problems, you got lucky. I suggest that everyone go to a licensed professional who knows what they are doing. Don't be a moron - get it done RIGHT.

im 16 and thinking of getting my tounge pierced but i keep hearing about losing the feeling and taste is there realy a big danger of this if you get it done by a tatoist/piercing guy  + if i got sea water in my mouth like a day after having it pierced is it dangerouse

I'm kinda freaked out by how young you guys are.  I'm 19 and just started considering it.  Don't do it yourselves.  There is tons of info on the web (about the dangers).  Why don't you guys (under 18) simply put it out to your parents that if they don't help you get it done professionally, that you will do it yourself and they can't stop you.  Your parents are smart, and won't want you doing it yourself.  Talk to them about the research you've done.  The risks and how they can be avoided.  It's a chance for you to show your parents that you are mature.  (Please be mature and weigh the risks carefully.)  There is TONS of stuff on the web you can pull up to show your parents.  Just try to win them over; and do it nicely. (Yelling and being whiny won't convince them to let you do it).

Hey people, if you want a tounge piercing i would HIGHLY sugest that you get a professional, NEVER do it yourself and for cleaing sea salt and warm water after you eat and Oral-B(antibacterial) mouthwash and ice chips help with the swelling, so good luck and spend the money to get it done then the risk of loosing your taste....thanks for reading later!

hay there guys the viens are on either side of your tongue just stick ur tongue out and look at them and see how far apart they are and if they are good then go for it. i did mine by myself and it came out great. just take some listerine ( not scope that doesnt work) and mix it half with water and wash your mouth everytime you eat and dont eat any breads or anything with yeast in it for the first week or so, also wash your mouth if you smoke right after

if your you get it peirced professionaly or not, u need to rinse your mouth with a mixtur of distilled water and non-iodized sea salt, 2 table spoons of salt per gallon of water. and u can use a mixture of water a listerine once a day, too much of this is not good though. u need to use the salt rinse after u eat, drink or smoke anything

be4 u peirce yourself, which is not recomended, study it firdt, never use safety pins, make sure every thing is sterile. AND WATCH FOR VEINS. study the bottom of ur tongue and lok for veins, of course you want the peircing centerd atop of ur tongue, but u may have to insert it a lil angled to avoid the veins. be careful

all you 13 and 14 yr olds are the stupidest people i have ever heard. You CAN die from a tongue piercing. i've had mine done before and it didnt hurt just got swollen for a week. but i went to a place that took ppl without ids so im dumb cuz they put it too far foward so i had a lisp. so i took it out im gonna get it done again but not til im 18, only a few months. but dont b dumb and stop being whores. i dont care WHO likes ur piercing. 13 yr olds are sluts

I got my tounge pierced and it swole up like a baloon and i couldnt breath so i was in the hospital for 3 weeks yea i know pretty bad! i would never get anything ever pierced ever again .. yea u want it now but sooner or later it will be out of style so just try to ignore ur mind in telling you to get it cause you could be the next person in the hospital .....

My best friend and I got our tongues pierced by a friend who has done alot of other piercings. He's not certified to do that or anything like that but i trust him and it has been a month since i got my tongue pierced and i am doing great. But i guess some people just dont have good experiences.

I think anyone who says it hurts is stupid cuz I have seen one answer out of all the rest that said it might hurt! Me and my bff are getting ours pierced and we are 17. We asked and our parents said we can't  but we are having my aunt take us and sign for us. All my friends have theirs done and NOTHING happened to them!  So don't be scared, just do it. Besides it is hella attractive for guys and girls!!!!

Well, I live in Australia. Law is wait until your 18 or get your Mother's permission. I got my Mother's permission when I was 15, but on the proviso it was when she moved out and I had to be 18. So I WAITED, DON'T BE IMPATIENT, F*CK. I turned 18, she moved out, I have the house to me and my partner. It's awesome. Professional is the way to go, or you could end up screwed. So, CHILDREN, WAIT or get PERMISSION! I cant stress it enough.

Ok, I'm 15 years old, and I don't have it peirced. I want to an I'm gonna ask my mom, but I'm not gonna tell you what to do.. an I have read what everyone has said.. there are many things that can go wrong. My friend who did it herself.. she has no taste anymore an it got infected n turned black not to mention the infection ate away her tongue.. so i would recomend researching everything first. Ask your parents if they will let you, if they do.. score. If they wont then research it carefully an go for it. I've been told the best kissers are the ones with tongue rings!~ ;)

Well I'm 15 years old and i just recently peirced my tounge my self. It dosen'thurt and as long as you know where to do it u'llbe fine. It swells for a couple of days then it's fine. During those first couple of days u might have trouble talkin so if u plan on keppin it from anyone u better stay clear of them for a few days besides that it's fine i kept it from my parents until recently when they found one of my barbells for it. I think that if u want it go for it.

Hey  I'm 13 and I'm going to get my tongue pierced in 5 days and I'm so excited!!!!!! I'm alittle nerves about the pain and all but my dad said it shouldn't be that bad. He's going with me to get his eyebrow pierced and i think he's alittle more worried than i am! lol! i got mine done wen i was 16, i love it!! i got it done profesionaly here in south africa. they dont give you any trouble bout your age,and it is cheap. i recomend you get it,but  dont do it yourself,you never know wat could go wrong. GOOD LUCK!!

My Dad is letting me get my tongue pierced soon so I DOT have to worry about doing it myself (he knows if he doesn't let  me I will do it myself!) but I know how it feels to really want a piercing enough to do it yourself.I pierced my ears 9 times, my left nipple, and my clit myself.(and the parents know about everyone of them!!) Befor I did any of them I asked a professional about the prosses. The tongue isn't hard to pierce! Look underneath your tongue. You have two veins running down either side of your tongue. Don't hit those!!! And use a proper needle. I would suggest looking at other tongue piercings before piercing your own. Also before piercing your tongue wash out your mouth with regular Listerine (none of that fancy stuff, it can cause irritation) and afterwards you must wash your mouth out with a mix of 1/2 Listerine and 1/2 water every half hour for a few days. Then you can cut down to every 2 hours. It takes about 2 weeks for the tongue to completely feel. Good Luck

I am 15 and I have 5 holes in my ears, my belly button pierced, my nose, and my labret. I told my mom that my last piercing would be my labret, but now i am desperate to get my tongue pierced! I have asked my mom and she said that my labret was my last piercing (besdies 4 my ears, I can have as many of those as I want). I have my own piercing gun, and I have thought about piercing my nipples and my tongue with it. But its a bad idea, from what I heard dont do anything yourself. Hey i wanted to tell some people out here. I read all of ur stories. u got 13 year olders complaineing about not bein able to get it dne well i am 14 and already i have 3 hoels in each ear,cartilage, i have my tongue pierced(january) and i got my eyebrow pierced(may) and then this summe i am getting the labret so if ne 1 has any questions about them or ne thing cause i know a lot about peircings so if ne 1 has ne quiestion's just e-mail me at Slipknotgurl2006@yahoo.com and i will respond to ur Q's well

my dad a veternarian and has everything needed for piercing my tongue but he say there is so much to worry about and my mom
says not intill i on my own ( not in this house)!!! ive  got my cartlage and ear lobe pierced but every time i say this is my last one so they will let me get it done!
when my dad herd i wanted my first piercing
he sayed "if it is ok with your mom" when i asked about my tongue he sayed no!!!

should i try to get facts and bother him or
just wait 6 years!!  im not doing it my self

i just want to say, that although its hard as crap to obey your parents when they say no, it is important to be yourself.  i promise i have been down that road! you wont be too old at 16 to get something done... start small with the ears and the belly... like with the ones that are easier to cover up when you're around those who don't want to see them.  but my advice is don't give the 'rents too many gray hairs too soon, you'll have much more time to do that!

To all the peeps who want to get their piercings just go for it!!  Ive never craved for one like many of yous have... i bumped into an old guy mate of mine and he had 2 piercings everywhere but the one that appealed to me the most was the tongue ring... so i decided to get one the same day as well as my lip and my eyebrow.  All you have to do is dont think about the procedure but the outcom
