I recently purchased a 12 week old female Yorkie. She is very active with a great temperment. My concern is that I am having a difficult house breaking her. We have a front porch and stairs so she always has to be carried to the lawn. Since she is always carried how can I teach her to go to the door when she wants to go outside? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

You may want to try her on a leash, as your pulling her, gently outside. Praise her efforts.  She may respond to your positive encouragement, and eventually walk outside on her own to get attention.
Good luck.

I have several yorkies and I started them out on the wee pads. I kept moving the pads closer to the area I wanted them to go in, finally they all are potty trained. It took a good 3 months to train them, but they are very smart little darlings. Be persistent and on a schedule, and lots of praise. Don't give up she'll get it.

I have a 10 week old Yorkie.  She is still very small.  How can I train her to get used to the leash.  I use a harness type.  She just wants to sit there and not walk and keeps trying to rub and scratch the harness off and bite the leash?  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I HAVE FEMALE YORKIE AND FOUND THAT FEEDING HER ONLY BREAKFAST LUNCH AND DINNER AND TAKING HER OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD REALLY HELPED. I FOUND THIS TRAINING METHOD HERE ON THE INTERNET,AND REALLY HAS WORKED. WE LEFT THE FOOD OUT FOR TEN MINUTES AND SET WITH HER AND THEN TOOK HER OUT. SINCE SHE WAS SO SMALL SHE ALWAYS WENT RIGHT AWAY,THEN I GAVE HER A SMALL TREAT AND LOTS OF PRAISE. I DID TAKE HER OUT QUITE CONTINUOSLY TO GIVE THE IDEA THAT SHE GOES OUT SIDE. SHE DOES REALLY WELL NOW. I LEAVE HER FOOD AND WATER OUT ALL DAY AND NIGHT NOW AND SHE STARTED SCRATCHING AT THE DOOR TO GO OUT. WORKED WELL,GOOD LUCK!
