socket communication on cross plateform?

we know that the data on windows and unix is not portable ie client is running at windows and server on unix, how we can solve it for different types e.g. int , float etc

The simplest way is to use text format when communicating. Nowadays, XML is becoming the de facto standard.

Other choices are XDR, ASN1, or your own way. You need to define the types that should be transmitted, and use a "network" form. for integers for example, use ntohs and htons to switch between host format and network format.
