Instead of making useless mass mailing viruses that do nothing more than denial of service,
Why not make an open source virus payload tool that can be added on to most viruses, that makes a P2P proxy server out of the infected host and self destructs in 48 hours.
This way everyone with a Windows virus is a P2P proxy server.
This way the Record industry won't be able to subpoena file sharing computers because,
all computers that have a windows virus, are P2P proxy servers, nice.
You would need to make them self broadcasting to all P2P networks.
The nice thing is to do a DOD delete of the service and files for the P2P engine every 48 hours,
To ensure a clean working environment.  There would still be proxy traffic to the file swappers,
but proxy traffic does not show what you are doing or sharing.
A new positive direction for virus makers?
