My dog may be pregnant. How do I tell if she is? She is too young to have pups and I will have to terminate her pregnancy. Can anyone tell me how I can tell without taking her to the vet?

Signs are her getting fatter and lazier, wanting more food and water,and possible urination increase due to squished bladder from the growing uterus. If she was in heat and didn't get pregnant then she may show all the signs, It's called false pregnancy. Go to the vet after about 3-4 weeks after breeding to get a pregnancy test. Something like terminating puppies is not a "do it at home yourself" type of thing and I wouldn't do it without a vet.

your dog may be pregnant, or could be having a fantasy pregnancy, my dog had one and got milk, fat, ate more and all the signs but never had pups, now our other dog is pregnant but we have no idea when the pups are due cuz we didn't even notice she was in heat.

Well, your dog being pregnant with "mongrel" pups, shouldnt effect her pedigree, correct? She shouldnt have been allowed to breed unsupervised, or unplanned, but accidents do happen.

when a dog is close to giving birth, she will find a nice warm secluded spot to give birth. So be aware, my dog has just fallen pregnant as well

Hi, Today was the first day that my female got taken by my male.....it was only about 2 to 4 days left untill she was out of heat. we were doing so well as far as not getting her pregnant....untill today, they got stuck together and i was freaking out because i have never been through that before . Anyways when should i first take her to the vet to see if she is indeed pregnant?

My dog went into heat two weeks ago and this is her first time going in heat. The main thing we wanna know is that she has wanted more water and ate lot more food. She also gotten to the stage where she is lazier. But I was wondering her boobies are filling up with milk and getting bigger but she is not getting fatter. Is she pregnant

I think my Saint Bernard is pregnant, but one of my male dogs has been smelling her and trying to breed her. Do they have some kinf od scent that other dogs like when they are pregnant? Because even if she is not pregnant, I dont think she is in heat. HELP!!

If your dog is pregnant, her nipples get larger and she eats more than usual. She will be urinating more due to pressure on the blatter from the growth of the uterus. She will also be very lazey. If these signs a core go to your vet and get a pregnancy test. A dogs pregnancy usually last about 4 months.

3 LB Maltese got out for an hour.  We didn't notice that she slipped out.  Her vagina is unusually large as was not before.

There are six small bumps on the lower region of her stomach. (As pictured above)
Does this mean she is pregnant?  She is too small to have puppies.  Does this mean she will die?

i need some help! my dog has been mated! but he was quiet old and we do not no if our dog is pregnant she is a little bit fatter but she is starting to make milk.
she is 5 and is a working dog if she is not pregnant can we breed her again or will she be to old to have puppies

I have a female dog who recently went into heat but is not bleeding. Her boobs are getting larger and feel like they are filled with liquids. She is eating a lot more, drinking a lot more, and peeing a lot more. She also wants a lot of attention and seems like she can't ever get comfortable. She is a carrin terrier and we have a  pug she might have breded with. It seems like she is pregnant but we are not sure. Do you think she is pregnant? should we take her to the vets? thank you

I think my maltese may be pregnant.  She has all the symptoms.  I thought we were all being careful with her when she was in heat to make sure she didn't mate with another dog, but we must have missed it.  She is 10 months old. Would she be old enough to care for her puppies yet?  I do not know what type of dog she mated with, do I need to be concerned if it was a large dog of not.

Um, I don't if my dos is preg. Bu she had clar stuff comingout her tets when I squeez them. She's notacting different and I don'tknow if she even went into heat. And we do have male dog that run around s she could get preg. if she was in heat but she's not getting fatter or anything but she did bie my dad's girlfriend and that's not like her and she's ALOT more lovable to me, she ALWAYS wants me to rub her tummy and she does eat alittle more I find.. So can anyone help me? I want to bring her to her vet but I don't want to pay alot of money for nothing.. so can someone PEASE HELP me?

I also think you jack russel (eddy) is pregnant. Her nipple are exstended and she look a little fat but it is hard to tell if she is. Also how long is a dog pregnant for?

to all those inquiring about if there dogs are pregnant. they do sell pregnancy tests for animals as a matter of fact they work the same as those humans would use. good luck to all and remember owning a dog is a huge responsibility and so are puppies.

hey to everyone out there to tell if a dog is pregnant you sometimes see her throwing up more and sleeping a lot well thats what my dog did and my dog is a Pekingese. and now i have a question for you: dose the dog have to be in heat to get pregnant

Hi.

My chihuahua-jackrussell mix is only 9 mo's old, and we think she's pregnant.. by my lab-german shepard- beagle mix. her breasts are getting bigger, and she has been eating more, and drinking more. This was a total accident. What are the dangers of her delivery?

how long are dogs pregnate? My dog was in heat in oct now its january but she is producing milk im very confused. My dad left her tied out one day while i was out of town and 4 months later she is lactating? I'm so confused is it posible she is gonna have puppies and how soon?

i also have the same question, my dog is a 9 month old blue healer/Australian shepherd mix and she was bred to my other dog around Christmas,and she has been getting much rounder and droopier in the abdomen and showing other signs but i don't really know if she is or is not so i hope i can get an answer. thanks

My dog is getting big in her nipples but the male wasn't around her because we didn't want her to have puppies at 9 months old. How can we tell if she is pregnant? By the way Jesus (nickname not real Jesus) that was very impolite and mean!

okay ummmm my dog she is min pin and well she is quite large and we are tr yingto get her to loose some weight but our front door was left open and we think she might be pregnant but maybe not we cannot tell seen she is so heavy if she is or not.and she is sooo lazy now and i can't seem to do be able to play with her anymore! she is not herself at all. please reply. thanx!

how do you tell the difference between a false pregnancy and a REAL pregnancy?  My beagle was in heat and now she is hungry all the time (and even more so than usual!) plus she has swelling in her breasts.  and she has gotten lazy.  but she is not getting fat, just her breasts.

i think its when your dog starts having diarrhea problems and when she is throwing up a lot all over the house. I'm not sure if she is pregnant but i really need to know if any of these signs are a sign of my dog being pregnant

I have an american bulldog that was recently bred twice. I am not sure if there is a way to tell if she is actually pregnant but now it has been 15 days since she was bred the first time and all she has been doing is laying around. She was also eating more but I noticed today and yesterday she has not really eaten much? Is this a sign? or is it too early to tell?

My dog may be pregnant.  She would be at least 2 months pregnant if she is. That is about the time she was last in heat.  She has been acting really weird and whining a lot the past couple of days. It looks like she has been making a den. She has also started  lactating. Is there a way to tell if she is pregnant or if it is just a false pregnancy with out going to the vet?

My dog is 2 1/2 years old. she also is acting weird. i think she maybe pregnant. I just don't know what to look for. the vet said that they could take a ultrasound but they don't have one. My dog is sleeping a lot, has dry heaves, eats a lot of grass, is hot then cold, and goes under the coffee table or the end tables. the dog next door shares the same backyard and is not neutered. my dog has not been in heat, but i heard that they don't need to be in heat to get pregnant. it would help me a lot if i could get any answers to my questions. thanks much.

I think she might be pregnent she was in heat about a month go and there are many other dogs around...and now seems to be getting large breasts but thats all i really noticed so far is this most likly a false pregnancy or a real one!! could someone please help!

I have an 8 1/2 month old chihuahua. I'm really really confused because lately she has been acting really extremely weird, maybe as if she was pregnant? but i just dont know.. Could she even get pregnant at 8 months old???!?!?   She's been urinating so much lately. She even urinated on my couch, and she has never done that before! Is swelling breast part of a false pregnancy?
My Yorkie was in heat for the first time about a month ago. Shortly after her breast swelled and is still.  I have a 2 year old mini schnauzer who I thought just didn't get the mating thing.  (I tried mating him with my tft to no avail)  Now I don't know if she is in danger being pregnant so early and with I'm sure will be big pups for her small size. 6-7 lbs  he is 16.  So  could this be?

If your dog is pregnant about two weeks to a month she may have "morning sickness" anytime during the day. Her teets may appear larger than usual. Right after mating if she becomes pregnant her vulva may stay swollen for a week. At about 22-32 days a vet can feel her tummy for pups.

my dog is also a pedigree, and she was in heat about 3 weeks ago and now she is getting extreamly affectionat and she is slightly filling out. Her brests are getting bigger to. I don't know if she is pregnant or non but I was told that if I take her to a vet and the puppies are mutts she will be "tainted" or something and will be taken off the AKC list! I don't know what to do.

I have a question. I'm not sure if my dog is pregnant or not. She has been digging a lot lately and her nipples are bigger now and when she lay down sideways you can see her belly sagging. I'm not sure if these are signs of a pregnant dog but if someone can answer my question that would be great.

false pregnancy symptoms are normal in dogs that have estrus and do not get breed,do to the way in which they cycle.It is not usually necessary to treat for symptoms of false pregnancy but they can be so close to those of a real pregnancy that the two can be very confusing

No! just because your dog mates definatly doesn't mean she is pregnant. My female pug was bred to my male pug 4 times within a six day frame and when taken in for x-rays to determine how may to expect at birth which was anticipated to be in 8 days and there was not a puppy to be found :(

I am wanting some real answers so if you don't know don't respond like the idiot jesus. Here goes. My jack Russell accidentally tied up with my nieces daushen. I poored cold water on them and the broke loose but i was wondering if she could be pregnant. It happened on September 22. I can't tell if she is. Here teets are much bigger but this was the first time she went into heat. So i was thinking that maybe they got bigger because of something close to what we go through like puberty. Hi, there Diamond in refference to your question if your dog is 42 days into her gestation she should be showing by now, but this also depends how big or small is your dog. small breeds take longer to show some don't show until 6 to 7 weeks into their pregnancy. your best way to check is to pay a visit to your vet.

just becasue your dog has a "pedigree" doesn't mean it's better then a mixed breed. the only thing a pedigree proves is that your dog is a purebred. it's really not that impresive unless the dog has multiple CH in it's pedigree and is up to the breed standard.

Not all dogs get pregnant as I have found out. My dogs are pure Labradors and have had two healthy litters of ten. Mother and father are still great pets. This year the same two who parented the last two litters mated and there is no pregnancy. The due date has come and gone. We also mated the male dog with a new dog and it doesn't seem as though she is pregnant either.
Please anything anyone knows would be a help!
