Actually, Yes you can. You can give you dog tylenol for pain. I had the same question with my dog and I asked my Vet and she said I could. Give 15mg per KG. My dog weights 80lb = somewhere around 44kgs  675mg dose.

I just came back from the vet and they said that I can give one baby tylenol or one asprin every 12 hours.  My dog weighs 19 pounds.  I gave her a tylenol this morning after she ate a bit and the pain has significantly reduced.  She has pulled legiments in her back leg.

Tylenol is fatal for cats, I've given my dog small doses of Tylenol for pain after surgery.  Never give your pet medicine without checking with your vet first.

Be cautious. Tylenol (acetaminophen)is toxic to dogs. Small doses may be tolerable but never something you would give a dog as a course of medication therapy. You need to be concerned about damage to the liver and low globulin counts- both not what you want if your intention is to help your dog.

Try aspirin (salicylic acid), it will do roughly the same job with no liver damage to speak of.

NO!!!!!!! =(

Do NOT give your dog TYLENOL!!!
Acetaminophen is toxic to dogs.

You can give ASPIRIN. (not enteric coated though, because it appears that dogs do not digest this coating well and whole aspirins have been found in dogs stool.)

ASK YOUR VET for proper dosage.
Don't go on the advice of some unknown person on the internet.
TALK TO YOUR VET.

Google search of "tylenol dog" shows a nearly unanimous agreement from many sources that tylenol is not a good idea for a dog. At best, its dangerous for their liver.

Unless your dog is experiencing tremendous pain you should not give her anything.  Remember that dogs feel much less pain than a human under the same circumstances and they do not need the medication in general for minor pain.  Additionally, while some studies have been completed they are not nearly as thorough as testing done for humans so there is more risk involved with medicating your dog.  Don't medicate your dog out of sympathy, she will certainly live through her first season even if it is an uncomfortable term.  But, if she is in tremendous pain it is ok to give aspirin or acetaminophen, not ibuprofen.

only give aspirin NOT TYLENOL in doses of 5mg per pound of dog. tylenol is different than aspirin and the coatings on it cannot be digested by dogs. tylenol also gives dogs ulcers. an adult sized aspirin (320mg) can be fatal to a small dog.
