I have 2 Rottie/Pittbull mixed, 3 YO dogs.  They are sisters.  Ever since I got them, they are petrified of water.  I "bathe" them now with aloe wipes, and a spray for their coats.  They are clean, and do not smell, but I would really love to bathe them normally.  Any ideas?  I am ill, and don't have much strength, and they weigh around 80 pounds each.

I believe that the dry shampoo that is used for ill people can be used.
It is a power and all you do is brush it off.
You can ask for this shampoo at your local drug store.
Good luck-------------nini

hi nini.I have a pittbull 5mo. and a lab 4yr. Ive heard pittbulls are afraid of water, but I think mine likes it because of the lab that she follows. If you have friends with a water dog you should let them play together around water, then maybe it will get used to it like my dog.Good luck.

Maybe try taking them somewhere where you can go into the water with them, that worked for mine. Just be careful when they swim towards you, mine clawed me so bad I couldn't walk for 2 days and it took a 1 yr and a 1/2 to get rid of the scars.

hi i think you should start them off by spraying them with water little by little but don't say anything so then they don't relateyou to the water then when that goes by pour water on them like form a cup or something then eventually in a few months they should get used to it and enjoy it

My BigBro has a lab.  She loves the water. Mayby in the summer bring yours to the beach and wade in the water on shore. Maby the will go in and in they come towards you just go out a little bit deeper when she gets close.  GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

hi there. I have been breeding pitbulls since 2001. i train my dogs to love water. maybe you could first try to use a hand sprayer (like the one they use in salons and parlors) and spray on to their head and face then move onto the mouth. If they play with sprayed water, you can hose them down and they'd love it. but if you want the easy way, take them to bath with you.

If they don't like getting wet just use aloe wipes on the belly skin and spray them with dog cologne they have that at Wal-Mart or Petco and places like that
