My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan's front heater select switch...

My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan's front heater select switch suddenly only works in the high position.  I checked the "fuse" and the front blower module under the hood next to the battery and they seem to be ok... I switched them with another one that I knew worked and still no fan unless the switch is on high.  Any ideas on what's causing this.

Just replace the resistor block, just behind the glovebox,on the blower motor.First unplug the connector, then remove the two 5/16 screws.

I agree, the blower resistor relates a specific voltage to the blower fan.  This could cause your condition.

Had the same heater blower problem on my 2002 Grand Caravan with 3 zone heating.  The front automatic temperature control, behind the glove compartment failed.  The part cost $70.00 from the dealer.  I replaced the MOSFET power transistor, Fairchild part # HUF75353P3(also requires heat sink compound).  Cost 2.72 plus shipping.  Got it online from Mouser Electronics www.mouser.com.  May be able to get locally.

I also have this exact same problem with a 2001 Dodge Sport Caravan. I replaced the resistor switch but 4 days later it went bad and now we only have the high fan speed again. What is next to replace or inspect?

Question? I've replaced the Resistor Block three times over 2 years. What is the reason given for this problem? Has Chrysler attempted to correct the problem? Thank You!

Same problem, so I replaced my resistor block only to have it go after two weeks. I talked to a mechanic/friend who had similar problems with his Sebring. The OEM resistor blocks have a fatal flaw. There's a diode in between the coils in the unit. No one, including a dodge mechanic can tell me why it's there other than suggesting that it may be there for diagnostics. The diode is quite likely the problem as it tends to fry due to heat from the engine compartment. Simple and free fix: bend the tabs on the cage and remove. Snip the diode, push the wires together and solder. If you bend the resistor coils to get at the diode, bend them back. Put the cage back on and make sure no coil is touching another or the cage. re-install and you'll be good to go. My friends Sebring has been running that way for two years, my Caravan for six months. No problems. And to think, the dodge dealer to me that my blower motor was the problem (even though it worked fine, just on high only) and quoted $800!

Also look at replacing the under dash ACC filter that sits in the air flow Pass side left side Bosch ACC Cabin Filter DW3028310602R restricted air flow may make resistor block fail due to restricted air flow that cools the resistor block

I had a 2002 with the same problem, easy to get to, right behind the glove box.  Empty contents of glove box (or it'll dump on the floor), squeeze sides inward enough to get the stops tabs on each side to clear.  Let the glove box hang down, and get to changing it.
