I just returned home from Guiding Eyes for the Blind with a beautiful two-year-old goblack golden/lab cross. We came from New York; I live in the Midwest. Two hours after arriving home, my dog began scratching and within a few days, she had developed infections (yeast) in both ears and had white specks covering her coat (dandruff-like specks). She has been eating Iams dog food since birth. I've never had a dog with anytype of skin allergy, so this one is a tough one for me. Would anyone out there have an idea whether this could be a food allergy? And if the allergy is environmental, any ideas as to where I should begin in terms of resolving the problem? Obviously I don't want to give her any type of meds that would hinder her performance as a guide. Currently I'm giving her  25MG benedryl once daily and this cuts down on the scratching--though it does not prevent it altogether.

This is an exceptional dog--of my three, definitely the best guide I've had. Now if I can just get her feeling better...
