Hello. I'm a professional piercer and decided to have a look around at how some of you were answering each others questions on these forums. I'm sorry to say that you are all out of your goddamn minds. Piercing yourselves is NOT A SMART IDEA. anonymous, you can't just find a safety pin and pierce yourself. You don't know where that pin has been, and I sincerely hope that you at least attempted to sterilize it before piercing. Alex seems to be the only smart one of you, because she at least recommends going to a professional. I would advise ALL of you to take out the piercing and go to your family doctor or a piercing specialist. I really don't care if you say 'My parents will kill me!', you're ALL running the risk of getting an infection, and if you're piercing just to be cool, well, then you're not. Take if from me AS A PROFESSIONAL- if your parents don't want you to get pierced, then they obviously have a reason. Don't be stupid, and go see your doctor, and if you cant tell your, parents, tell an aunt or an uncle, or an older sibling. Please, when it comes to piercings, be smart! Morgan

My best friend is obsessed with getting her belly button pierced. She wants it done soooooo baldy but her parents won't even consider it. Since she was 12 she's been piercing and re-piercing her naval. I'm really scared that she's going to hurt herself. What can I do to make her stop this??? I was supposed to get my naval pierced professionally last month, but decided not to because I thought it would influence her more to pierce hers herself...also because my boyfriend does not approve... What should I do? Should I get my naval pierced even if my boyfriend does not approve? Do you think that would greatly influence my best friend? PLEASE HELP!! F-O-F

I'm 17 and i recently decided that it was time to rebel for the last time and get my bellybutton pierced. The thought of doing it myself never even crossed my mind, You are all seriously endangering your health...just think if it got infected how huge the repercussions would be? Wait until your old enough to go by yourself or with a friend to have it done and when you've really considered thats it is what you really want because you'll only regret it. I've waited so you all can too, and don't do it because its cool, because really how cool are you going to look showing off a scar to your new boyfriend from that time you thought you'd pierce yourself?? think about it......

Hi, I self peirced my belly button 2 years ago i got it through and there's no scar tissue but the belly button ring wouldnt fit so i took it out but Morgan is right you really need to sterilize it. 1. You better numb it with ice or your damn crazy 2. Have some antibiotic ointment after you peirce it to put on everyday 3. Everyday wash it with acohol or peroxide even the thing your using to keep the hole openi recommend doing that a few times a day 4. before you peirce it make sure you have a lighter it makes it go through easier if it is hot but that also cleans it -rub of the char before you do it 5 while peircing constantly wipe the needle off with acohol and where you are peircing

i have pierced my own belly button only god knows how many times and they never did hurt but it left a lot of scar tissue and i have a scar over my belly button last night i decided to try again and it worked i mean it has worked before but my belly button rejects it but it worked so im gonna wait and see what happens i advise you to go to a professional but i dream of being a professional piercer and have been piercing things since i was 11 ive pierced ears and other peoples belly buttons and all sorts of things ive even pierced my own eyebrow but i took it out because i think its ugly if you just have to do it yourself DO NOT USE A SAFETY PIN if you can find a needle i have 4 needles they are 18 gages so i have to stretch the hole for a 14 gage ring but if you have any questions email me at charmed_one_cw@hotmail.com thanks

I pierced my own 2nd whole in my ear and still have the piercing it doesn't get infected cause i keep it clean and I sterilized the needle first.. if your going to pierce anything yourself.. make sure that the needle or saftey pin is clean. after cleaning it light a lighter and get it a little warm that will make it go through a lot easier.and don't pull it out too fast or it will bleed a lot. Well now i am thinking about piercing my belly button and then stretching it to a 12 but i don't know.. cause i don't have any money to get it done professionally but i do want it to look good and be clean. I think i will do it myself but i don't have a ring.. i will probably go buy one. and then do it by myself.

im 15 and when i was 7 i got my ears pierced for the first time by a professional. i was nervous but got it done. after a year i was having problems getting new rings in so they eventually closed up. when i was 14 i wanted them repierced but my mom wouldnt let me. so i did it my self. and it was fine they healed and it was all good. then when i was 15 i wanted them double peirced but yet again my mom wouldnt let me so i did it my self cuz i was also really bored. i did it and it didnt hurt. but i DID sterilize the need both times. they healed and it was fine. just a couple weeks ago i started to think i wanted my lower cartilage peirced. so two nights ago i peirced it. its looking fine and i think it wil turn out good. but as for all you girls thinking about doing your Navel...DONT! i went with my best friend to get hers done and theres soo much you have to consider. you are at risk for major infection. and plus you cant go buy a 14g needle. so pllleaase dont peirce your navel by yourself. talk with you parents or go find someone 18. hope it helps.

I really wanna pierce my own navel but im scard im gonna die. lol My sister and my mom told me that i really shouldn't because you could hit a vein and bleed to death!! I dont wanna to die. lol. I really think im gonna try and do it tonight but I really don't know how to do it. I have read some of your answers like, piercing it with a sewing needle but I dont want it to get infected. Because my mom said if i do it my self i will have to suffer the consequences. And i dont want to have to tell her that it is infected or i will get my ass kick! she wont take me to get it done though until i get my grades up . please give me some answers i really dont know what to do. Hi all you guys that want to pierce. I just did mine I used a sewing needle Rubbing alcohol Nerosporen stuff Ice I numbed my belly button until all the ice was gone, Took the needle and shoved it in. The last part is the hardest part. You really just have to push really really hard, if you can start to feel pain the numb again. once the tip of the needle was through the skin I then took the back of an earing and put it on the needle and pushed. If you just try to push the needle through without it its really hard. after that i left the needle in with the earing back on it so that it does not poke me and stuck beads on the top. i am 20 and ive been piercing for 2 years ive pierced myself 8 times including my7 navel and done well over 100 piercings and im going to tell you guys one thing if anything DONT pierce your navel with a pin. a navel should be done with a 14 gauge hollow needle! if you pierce yourself with a pin it will migrate out because its not thick enough. and for those of you with scar tissue, most professionals or experienced piercers will try to avoid piercing through scar tissue. luckily most of you probably pierced yourselves too shallow in the first place so you will most probably be able to be pierced again at a shop. also if you get to a concert ask around and you have a good chance of finding a private piercer, someone who does it out of their house. if you do this tho, make sure that they use sterile one time use needles, and autoclave their tools! i cannot stress that enough. if anyone has any questions about piercing my email is Silenced_Kries@hotmail.com and my AIM is SilencedKries

STOP DOING THINGS YOURSELF. Maybe the reason some of your parents wont allow you to get it done is because they dont believe you are responsible enough..... and from your posts, I would have to agree with that statement. There are so many diseases, and defects that can happen doing it yourself. If you cant wait until you are 18 to get it done the right way.. you dont deserve to get it done at all. Be smart. I wanted my belly done since I was 14, begged and begged... mom wouldnt let me. Over that summer I lost 60 pounds, my mom then rewarded me with letting me get it done. I then wanted my tounge done, no way she would let me... I waited until I turned 18 about a year ago now and got it done.. it was worth the weight. Do yourself a favor... pay the extra cash and wait the extra time to safe your life from a serious problem.

Mj - If you can't even spell the word "Choice" correctly then you obviously don't need to be poking holes in yourself. At 12, 13, and 14 years of age - you are all far too young to be piercing yourselves. Body modification is a lifestyle choice. What you kids are doing is just trying to look like adults and older teenagers. piercing yourself with a safety pin isn't cool and no one with half a brain in their head will think so. Just like getting knocked up in the backseat of a 97 Geo metro isn't cool either. You guys need to go back to reading Harry Potter books and wait until you're old enough to be pierced. Someday if you decide you MUST have a super nifty piercing then go to a professional for God's sake.

i pierced my belly myself, it hurt a bit and it got all black and infected. if you have anyone who would take you to get it done properly then do it like that, i wouldnt recomend doing it yourself because a) it might come out wonky (like mine) b) it will hurt more because it will take alot longer c) its hard to sterilise the needle/pin thing (if you are going to do it DO NOT put a flame on the needle cos it will contaminate it) and d) your mates will miss dinner cos they will be helping you do it!!! its not good to do it yourself, so if you can get it done professionally DO DO DO only pierce it yourself as a last resort, i mean u guys are what 12-13 u dont need it that young. hope i helpd yous ~emily~ x

Well hey all i have to say is that i have three holes in each ear . all pro done because of my mom I was at school when i did my cartilage it was painful at first but the pain eased down. Bu i had to take t out 2 days later cuz it got infected. so i took the risk and did it again. It didnt hurt at all. I also did my belly button at school it hurt like hell but it is ssoo cute. well buh bye i gotta go to school i'm gonna peirce my best friends 1st and second hole. but i will sanitize it like with those wipe thingys and use the cleaner so hahahaha just be careful. i have like 8 or 10 peircings and im going tomorrow to get my fist hole streached and et y lip and tongue done. yyeeaahh it totally rocks. i get my tatoo in 2 weeks im going to do it ith my best friend. soo hope it doesnt hurt much * doubt it* sincerly I_Luv_Peircings!!

omg i tryed it.. but then i nodiced the size of my needle.. and the ring .. DAMN i dunno how i would have got it threw.. im just lookin for a place thats cheap PROFESSInAL tho.. and yeaaaaa i think u guys should too.. and im 16 so all these little girls on this website no affence but dont do it cuz obviosly ur a slut.. :P u dont need it no ones gunna see it.. ur just gunna sho off with it no one cares!! like im gunna get in on my bday save up my money and get it i am not rich =/ damn how i wish so yea im getting it as soon as i get the money and my moms kool shell go with me.. but u guys if ur mom wont let u then dont do it cuz its like okk what if u go somewhere with ur family or something like to the beach or something.. they will see it and u wont want to take it out and there will be a mark its soo stupid grow up and do it. :P

guys, im 17 years old i was looking around trying to find a way to rid my stomach of an ugly scar that appeared after i peirced it myself and then took it out. 1. i advise you all to get it done professionally because it hurts like hell trying to do it yourself especiallly trying to get the 14 guage ring in. 2. It's JUST not that hot!!! one day you will all realize that it becomes trashy... no offense but unless you have the body of paris hilton it tends to look bad... especially later.. i had a very good body but now i wont show my stomach because of the scar. NOT WORTH IT.. i advise you to talk to your parents... i dont know tell them that you'll peirce it yourself if they dont take you to get it done.. thats if you're reallly desperate because if you're still young enough to get grounded if you do it yourself, you're screwed anyway. do you really expect to hide it from them forever? good luck guys, take my advice i was 13 too <3

Hello, I was just wondering what in God's name has possessed you CHILDREN to do such things? I mean come on, you have barely hit puberty most likely and u seem to think u can make possibly life altering choices? For your information a piercing is an open wound, wounds have the possibility of being infected. For you little kiddies out there that means that you can get sick, and depending where the piercing is it can get pretty nasty. Being 19 and on my way to med school I am no imbecile when it comes to the human body. I have made the decision to pierce my body PROFESSIONALLY because I am old enough to make rational and appropriate decisions. Frankly, anyone in their right mind with a little common sense would know not to stick a safety pin in their body and hope for the best. You better hope that it was sterile. For anyone else reading this PLS go get it done professionally, your health comes first not some piece of body jewelry that you will have to take out n e ways.

I think that all of you are crazy. Most of you guys are saying that you are 13 and that you have pierced your navels, and ears by yourselves. Don't you guys know how dangerous and unsanitary that is. You can get infections, and those piercings aren't like piercing your ear at a jewelry shop. At a jewelry shop the people are professional and use sterilized earrings or needles, you guys just numb your navels or ears and hope it works. What if you put the needle in the wrong place, or what if your needle wasn't sterilized, then you can end up getting tetanus which I am sure you wouldn't want. Also it is quite low to pierce your tongues and navels, the best place to get a piercing is on your ear, but if for some godforsaken reason you want a piercing somewhere else please please go to a professional and don't attempt piercing yourself, because you are putting yourself in serious danger.

Yea gee-gee i pierced my navel too (how old r u? (i'm 12) i couldn't get it the whole way through and i have scar tissue too my mom won't even let me get my ears pierced and if i come to her asking to get my navel pierced she will kill me! i am dieing to get it pierced and i need a parent with me to get pierced! i don't no what to do?! Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea,I'm 14 yrs., from Franklin, Texas. I've peirced my own belly button once, i got it through,but i took it out, because the needle was too thin, but this weekend my mom is taking me and my twin sister, Amy to get our tongues peirced. Yes!

Yeah, ive peirced my belly button bymylsef but then my mom walked in. It doesnt really hurt to do it yourself, but it snot recomended because getting it done professionaly is better for everyone. Well, this 19 year old guy i know is taking me and my cuz to get our bellybuttons pierced tomorrow so ill let yall know what happens.

well ive pierced mine three times with pins and safety pins. i am 13 . the first time i found a pin with like a bead on it and stole a bead off my sister i pushed the pin through and put the bead on the other end. it worked but the next day i took it out. after that i did it twice more but those times with a safety pin. it still worked but i took it out. i dont know why. i probably did because im a boy and were not supposed to have a belly button piercing and aswell what would my freinds and parents think if they saw it!!! especally when i did it myself. still it has caused no harm or scars so im ok!

hey all just read your articles about piercing i really think ye all are so stupid piercing yourself at such a young age, it is very dangerous to pierce yourself as risk of an infection and also u are only doing it too be cool which is ridiculous listen and respect your elders then know better than you do and just because u turned 13 it is not your choice it is your parents .if it is peer pressure that is causing you to do it too act or be cool for your sake do not try to be someone your not it is not worth faking it. stand up for yourself when it comes to peer pressure.

hey everyone...hey..ive pierced mine twice too and it left an ugly pinkish scar thing...then about a month later i got it pierced by a proffessional and yes it did kinda of hurt...but i asked the lady if it hurts more through scared tissue and she said no....for all u ppl that want 2 kno if it hurts...yes...it kind of does...not like enough to make u cry...it sorta feels like a bee sting...but less pain than that...dont more...its over in seconds : D .....hope i helped sumone....if u have any questions wat so ever... email me at kittykat485@hotmail.com peAce :D buhbyeeeee email

I am 21yrs old. And i have my tongue and my naval pierced and my ears many times. You girls are running a big risk! are you willing to chance being deformed if something goes wrong? if it gets infected your parents will surely find out and it will hurt like nothing you have veer felt before. See a professional! PLEASE PLEASE if you feel your old enough to be pierced then make a mature decision and get it done professionally. if you don't and do it ur self your not ready for it.;...

Im 14 and today im going to go get my nose pierced PROF. Or i could get my bellybutton. You guys are crazy. That is awful. Yeah your parents might kill you if they find out. But what if you get an infection and you need to go to the dR? who are you gunna tell? Huh thats so stupid. You guys wanna get your bellybuttons done but it looks horrible cause you cant wait a few years.

I think that all of you are peircing yourselves for the wrong reason.. your all too young to think your all that, and that yu deserve the right to deny what authority told yu (rents). Just wait a couple of years, or get an older friend to take yu to get it professionally done.. but doing it yourself will leave yu with a bigger problem.. and it hurts reallllly bad too, if yu dont freeze it. also if yu don't clean it , it'll get all crusty and then yu definetly won't be the cool one anymore.

I got mines done when i was 10... my parents are really nice by the way. Ive had it for like 5 years but it really hurts. I got an infection even though i got it done professionally...i guess that goes to show you how careful to have to be.

Hey I had my friend peirce my bellybutton today at school. It hurt and bled alot but its worth it- it turned out really cute. I know it wasnt the smartest thing to do, but I dont really care. If anyone else tries to peirce themselves, make sure you use a clean HOLLOW needle. Hollow needles are alot better than safety pins because instead of pushing the skin to the side, it takes it out, which speeds up the healing process a bunch and is safer. Peircing this way takes a long time (took me 40 minutes), and you should always push the needle up through your navel. Oh and use lots of hydrogen peroxide.

how can you remove a naval piercing yourself? i have a regular ring - a loop in my belly button with a ball but no matter which way i turn it it doesn't make the ring loose or come out

I'm allowed to get my navel pierced but the thing is i'm too chicken to get it done, i'm 12 and my friends got theirs done when they were 11 and they said its just like getting your ears done but with a needle is it true?

dude y'all are really immature. I agree with Morgan (although she shouldn't be saying that piercings aren't cool because she's a piercer). I pierced my belly-button, and it hurt SO MUCH and i couldn't get a regular one in for a few weeks (regular ring) so dude just go get it done professionally, it ain't worth it.

I havepierced my belly three times or so and Morgan is right, you should sterilize whatever you use before you do it. When i did it i put the pin in rubbing alcahol for about an hour or so then i washed it, it was a new pin anyways. Be sterile!! Jessica

I Pierced my belly button by myself once....it never hurt at all...but i had to take it out because i was afraid my mom would see it...i really wants to get it done professionally..with my mom knowing...so i won't be afraid to show my stomache...and also i'mafriad if i does it by myself again that it will get infected

i need help and im trying to pierce my 2nd hole and i numb it but the needle only gets 1/4 of the wat thru before i pull the needle out what do i do? it hurts! KK

I am trying to peirce my belly button right now and i am scared it will hurt and i will get a lot of scar tissue. My mom or my dad wont bring me until i am 17. I gonna be be 14 in 15 days!i am gonna get my cartilage done on February vacation. but i am using an earing w/ no ice is that bad?

Hey, I did my belly by my self and it rocked. I had it in for a good month and a half'ish. I do recomend Ice though you wont feel a thing. And my god get a freaking needle if your going to do it. Pins and safety pins(YOUR CRAZY!) Sterilize too. My parents found out about mine and were not to happy but they let me leave it in as long as I could keep up with it. The gymnastics every Thursday wasn't working so mines out now. Self piercing is definitely not a good idea over Professionally doing it but at least try to be safe and smart. O ya...get a real ring to put it in too.

i had my belly button pierced 2yrs ago im now 16 but i think 14 is the right age to have it done.if your parents will not let u ave your belly button pierced and u r diterminde to get it done DO NOT DO IT URE SELF.go wit an older looking m8 and dig around a few places to get it done but do not do it ure self and maybe try to get it done wit plastic it can sometimes have reasons for being better and do not play wit it if it gets infected go some and get help like a piercing place

I just did my belly button a couple days ago but it really hurts my freind told me t put antibactireal soap so i said k but it stings to clean it whats wrong wit it help please

hello, im Liz, im a 16 y/o and have had a few percings, my belly,and ears. i no nuthing special but, what can ya say? Ive had all my percings done profesianly, and would never do them my self. im just wondering how you guys find the self courage or "guts" to do it your self? i kno this is more of a question than answer but whatever lol. i would love a responce so here from u soon!

Well, i know i'mno professional but i dont think anyone should pierce any part of their body by themselves. i really like piercing they look really cool but they wont look to cool if they are red and puffy and have yellow puss coming out. i was just reading over somethings because my friend just pierced her bellybutton with a satfy pin. she didnt numb anything and she didnt staralize the pin! i really hope it doesnt get infected. i dont care if you have to sneak out of your house or have some one fake being your parent but dont do it yourself, its to risky. JAM

Well I tried to Pierce my belly. But I can't because I no more on belly ring. So as soon as I can get one maybe Monday. I will pierce my belly. But I think its going to hurt.What do you have to say?
