I have a three-year-old Persian.  I got her a year ago, when she was two. I have another cat who is 10.  The cats get along with each other ok (they play on rare occasions, but otherwise "co-exist" very peacefully) -- but the new persian (Penelope) seems like she still doesn't trust me.  She'll come to me for petting on occasion - and she likes to have me around her food bowl when she eats - but otherwise she runs away whenever I approach her.  I had another persian a few years ago - and while it took a while (maybe 9 months) for her to warm up to me -- eventually she would let me pick her up, rub her stomach, or do practically anything!  It's been a little over a year with Penelope.  Will she ever trust me?  What can I do to help this process???
