in order to change a constitution, first you need to propose an amendment. you will need 2/3 of each house of Congress and convention called by 2/3 of the state legislatures. Second, ratifying the amendments, 3/4 of the state legislature and 3/4 of special conventions held in each state.

I think that the question is whether the constitution is "changed" with an amendment or whether it is simply added to.  Maybe it would be better to ask “What are the limitations to the practice of constitutional amendment?”

The constitution need to become a living document which changes and evolves IF freedom is to be regained in the U.S. - The people need a new mechanism to facilitate this change. First, the popular vote needs to be recognized (abolish the Electoral College). Second, the people should vote on major issues of the day, similar to referendums in CA. Third, these rights need to be given to us in the form of an Amendment to the current constitution by the Republic (Congress, Executive and Judicial branches) IF violent revolution is to be avoided in the future. Fourth, no one who is an owner should ever be allowed to run for office. There is far too much pressure for anyone who is rich (or beholden to the rich) to govern egalitarially. Therefore, Campaign Reform is a must! Only the poor person, without stocks, land, or business interests should be allowed to serve as a President, Congressman or Judge! Only with these changes will the U.S. avoid revolution down the line.
