I have a client with an Adaptec SCSI card, Seagate Travan 4 8GB tape drive, and Stomp BackupMyPC, running on Windows XP Pro.  When she runs the backup job, she may or may not get errors on the tape.  Usually the errors are Bad Media, or something similar.  We have replaced the drive with a new drive, and replaced the tapes with new Imation tapes.  Seagate's suggestion is to use Seagate tapes.  If we re-initialize the tapes, we can usually get a backup, but not always.  I's stumped.  Does anyone know what to do to fix this?

Try to use the excelent backup program called NovaStor. I also have a Seagate Travan 4/8 GB tape drive and wish to get some old records. I understand that this program will backup to any device. I have yet to test this statement but will shortly.

Good luck
