Are Yorkshire Terrier's good for people that are allergic to most dogs.

Yes! Very good. My whole family has allergies. I am highly allergic to many short-haired dogs like chihuahuas, pugs, etc. and CATS! I sneeze, break out in hives, and will start wheezing if i am in a room w/ a cat or any other dog that is known to shed. Yorkie's do not shed. They dont have an undercoat. I bite my dog : D , and sometimes just sit there with my nose pressed up against her fur. I do not get any reaction whatsoever.

Here's another testimony. My family has allergies just like Yorkiemom. We are also highly allergic to CATS and many dogs. However, we do not have any problems with our yorkie whatsoever.

Just because a yorky does not shed much does not mean that you may not be allergic to it. Many people are not allergic to the hair at all, but the dander and urine. I would check to see what you are really allergic to before venturing off and purchasing a little yorky. It wouldn't be fair to the little yorky if it had to placed in another home if you were allergic to something else on the dog.

YES!! They are awesome dogs for alergies,because thay actually have hair,not fur,bu hair,so ya i think they are wonderful if you have allergies!!!

I have had horrible allergies all my life and do fine with my Yorkie. If you keep your dog's hair short and clean and housetrained, in my opinion, there should not be any problems! Good luck!

Oh my gosh, I am so glad! I have severe allergies, but have always wanted a dog. Yorkies are really good pets too. If I was allergic to them, boy would I be missing out!

I am highly allergic to most dogs so I am glad to hear that Yorkshire Terriers are good for people like me!!! I live in France and am here, these dogs are very popular. Everyone has a Yorkshire...I was trying to decide if I should get one to bring back to the U.S. and now I think that I will. It's only 120 euros to fly yorkshire terriers back to the U.S. and there are no quarantine rules if you are not flying through London.

Im allergic to them. I got a piece of there hair in my eye.. and my eye swelled shut.. it was soo bad. and i thought it wouldnt bother me. but it did.

I am getting a Yorkshire Terrier on Thursday. I am allergic to bull dogs. My dad loves bull dogs. One knocked him over. A yorkshire pup is so small. It's paw is so small compared to my hand. A yorkshire terrier is a great dog for allergic people.

i am interested in getting a yorkshire terrier, but i have a japanese chin- another smalll toy dog. i wanted to know if they would be good together or not. i was also wondering how well they behave around smaller children. thanks!

OMG there the best. i have two of them and i am highly allergic to dogs. I weeze break out with hives runny nose expectially stuffy nose and watery eyes. yorkies are great because there hair is so fine and short that they don't even shed plus they're the cutest things ever. and "I LOVE THEM".

yes very. They have hair rather than fur. So unless you are allergic to people with hair you will be fine.

i have a havanese and my sister is allergicto dogs its not the dandruf or dust from my dog tootsie just whenever she touches her she breaks out,so in my opinion she should just not touch tootsi as much as possible and when she does she can put cream on.like alot of people i love my dog and don't want to give her away but sometimes it's the only answer.

Well my moms allergic to dogs but yesterday at the soccer field she was petting a minature snhauzer and all of a sudden she got allergies I'm wondering if she'll be allergic to yorkies too ? please answer soon I need to know thanks

My fiance is allergic to Yorkie�s and always has been. My mother always says that he can�t be allergic to them since they have human hair, but we have tested it. He is even allergic to our Shih Tzu when his hair is long, so we have to keep his hair short. My yorkie has never really been a fun dog. My shih tzu has broke him out of his shell and sometimes he plays, but all he wants to do is lick his paws and sleep�

I also have a Yorkie and when I go to brush my Yorkie, Tucker, the brush doesn't have 1 single hair on it. It looks like the exact way that I bought the brush. I also have HIGHLY asthma and allergies to dogs and cats, but my Yorkie is PERFECT for me!

hi im 13 and my mum will be realy realy ill and i always wanted a dog i have ask my mum what dog can i get and i wanter to no if a yorkie is okay and she sed she think that they will make her ill but after i read this we are going to get one hopfuly thank you all the people that have rite coments

Well yeah! see we are looking to get a yorkie around christmas but my mom has allergies to dogs and cats . she doesnt know if shell do great with one until my neighbor got one! she does FINE AROUND THEM!
