I breed APBTs and my dogs are loving pets. They prove time and time again that they are worthy of our trust. I have a 6 month old, and at first were concerned with how the dogs would behave around her as they are kept indoors. If you do not know pits, you would be speechless. Pins and needles as they walk when ever around my child, always cautious of were they are and certain to give her room. I was surprised when a police officer told me that pitbulls have an enlarged section of the brain that causes them to be more violent. Is this urban legend or is there fact to the claim?

There are SO many myths and stupid rumours about this breed!  My favourite is the "locking jaw" myth! Get yourself a good APBT book.  I like Colby's book of the APBT, although it is less concerned with generals and more concerned with the specifics of Colby's dogs.  Great nonetheless!

no, it is not true. i forgot what it's called but it's extremely rare and does not set in until around 6 years of age. all breeds can get it, but the pitbull is one of the least likely, don't know why. dobermans are the most likely, don't knowwhy.

NO, this is not true. You claim to be a breeder and yet you have to ask this question. Remind me to never buy a dog from you, LOL.  I believe the thing momaj is talking about is called "rage syndrome" and it can set in at any age. And yes, any dog can get this.

Just leave the dogs alone it is all how you treat them it is up to the owners they are at fault not the dog

Im tired of the stereotyping of American Pit bull Terriers. My family has bred these dogs for 100 years, and as a little girl on my grandfathers farm I was in and out of the kennels every day with males, females, and females with pups with nothing but a positive loving response from the dogs.I think an ugly aggressive dog reflects an ugly aggressive owner, no matter what breed of dog.

they are all myths and not worth mentioning!
I think we can all help to better the breed in the public eye by focusing discussions on the big heart, willingness to please, hard working, loyal breed that they really are!

Thanks, Erik
