We are now having to crate our 9 year old cocker all day. We used to leave her in the basement and she would potty on her dog pads. However, she is now starting to chew the wood and tear out the bottom of our door out. The vet says it's separation anxiety. He says to crate her while we are gone. I'm just afraid that she will have serious UTI problems in the future. Also, we have cut her water intake after 7 p.m. but leave enough water in her crate during the day so she won't become dehydated. Our other option has been that a neighbor let her out twice a day but our cocker bites and growls at her. What can we do? Do you have any suggestions? We can't afford doggie daycare either. Please help!

There is a sprays on the shelf at most pet stores and Wal-Mart that you can spray your wood furniture with; it works like the thumbs medicine that causes children to stop sucking their thumbs. Spray any and aal wood objects you want your dog to leave alone.  Hope this helps you.
