Racism is everywhere, no point in singling out figure skating.  After all, there are a growing number of Asians entering the sport.  But then, Asians are like "honorary white people" anyway, so who knows.

I don't see racism involving Asians in skating.  I see it involving Russians in pairs and ice dancing.  I believe Russian skaters have been given points they don't deserve.  As far as the men singles go, the best skater really is Russian.

I wouldn't call it "racism"... but figure skating is definately a white-dominated sport. The only black skaters I can think of are Surya Bonaley and Debi Thomas. I'm black, and I was the only black skater in my entire club and often the only black skater at competitions. I think it's because historically, figure skating was a European sport and for years only people who lived in Northen climates could participate in skating because there were no artificial rinks. As for skaters getting extra marks because of their country of origin... I don't think that's racism, I think it's just a political game. The only way to break the racial barrier is to encourage ALL kids... black, white, Asian, Russian, whatever... to take part in this awesome sport and try their best.
