Need help in understanding the difference in running a run control script in /etc/init.d by logging as root and normal user? The script has su to normal user in it, and forked a java program using &. When I asked sysadmin to run the script as root, the java program died easily. But if I logging in as normal user and run the script, the java program stayed running for a long time. Thanks for your answer.
