I would not suggest breeding your piebald (possibly dapple) dachshund with a dapple. If your doxie has no white anywhere, he is probably a dapple. Piebalds and Double Dapples are often mistaken for each other (the trick to telling the difference is that Piebalds tend to have semetrical markings -if front left paw is white, so will front right paw.) Breeding two dapples together can produce solids, dapples or double dapples; however, some double dapples can be born without eyes and/or ears.

Something I've learned while getting ready to breed my miniature dachshunds cocoa, is to never breed two dapples together because it is proven that they could possibly turn out blind. So I wouldn't suggest that.

Why don't you do some research, dumbass.

Do you want your pups to be born without eyes and/or ears? I can't believe AKC recognizes double dapples. I will NOT support AKC until they disallow double dapples.

Why don't you actually talk to some breeders and find out how many are born without eyes and ears.  Collies and other merle color dogs have the same problem but worse.  They don't disallow those dogs.  Why because the chances of it happening are slim to none.

I think that people learn from asking these questions. I would rather someone ask me question than not and do something they wish they hadn'tof. Does this make sense to you? by calling someone a dumb ass for asking a simple question is immoral. Think about it if the shoe was on your foot! Your the dumb ass!

What about breeding a mini double dapple with a mini brown dachshund. Will they have the lethal genes?

yes it is true not to breed 2 dapples together, they can be blind and deaf. Also with 2 blues is not recommended. But a breeder I know has 2 cream parents and the 1 pup turned out to be a double dapple silver, how,s that for genes.

yes there are risks involved with breeding dapple to dapple.  I have done it 2 times and have been successful.  both double dapples are totally healthy!  and wonderful dogs.  educate yourself and make your own decisions!
