I have a 2000 Gran Am GT and want to replace the rear...

I have a 2000 Gran Am GT and want to replace the rear speakers with some 6 x 9 tri. upon inspection of factory equipment I noticed 4 wires 2 each side of spkr. Is this series /or parallel or something new. I have not touched a car audio system in 20 years and want to understand this as speakers I am looking at only have one pair of connection points. rigpig69@iwon.com

That type of setup is called, "duel voicecoil." It is in alot of Subwoofer these days yet i have never heared of it being on 6'x9's. What you can do is wire one + to the other and the - to the other.. and than from the + to the original + and the - To the original, sorry for the confusion, cya
