My dog is a female Kelpie. She used to enjoy walking until recently. She has become so afraid of any loud noise in our area. She refuses to walk when there is any kind of threatening "noise" around.
How do I get my dog out of the house and enjoying walking again?

I don't know why this would be unless you were unaware of it and your dog had bad hearing and is now recovering from it so noise scares it. (I've heard of this happening before so I know it exists) Just give her lots of love and patience and she should get used to it eventually. You could get a book on animal behavior or contact your vet to see if it's a symptom of some kind. She should get used to it and return to her old self. Hope this helps. Tanisha

When you walk, ignore the behavior. If you get down and say 'Oh, it's alright, nothings going to get you.' It only increases their fear, because you are encouraging it. You can always take a favorite treat or toy and distract her when she starts to get anxious, but only reward her when she turns away from the noise. (i.e. squeak a ball, and when she looks at you toss her the ball or a treat.)
