Abstract:
The invention "Reinforced Crown Cap" consists of a round plate-type piece
with a peripheral radial crimpling allowing for its marginal bending on
the neck of a container to be sealed. A Structural Reinforcement is
applied on the round plan by deforming steel in the form of high or low
relief crimpling with a radial symmetry with no compromise of basic
features of Crown Cap which is bottle sealing.Claims:
1. "Reinforced Crown Cap" consisting of a round plate-type piece with
radial, girdling and descending skirt-type crimping allowing for its
marginal bending on the neck of the container to be sealed up, that is
characterized because the round plan has a structural reinforcement due
to application of high and low relief grooves in the form of one to three
axial rings, a cross or a star, as long as it is symmetrical, on the
round plan of crown cap, by deforming steel in the form of high or low
relief crimpling with a radial symmetry with no compromise of basic
features of a Crown Cap which is bottle sealing.Description:
TECHNIQUE FIELD
[0001]This invention directly refers to a crown cap or cork that is used to seal containers containing water, fruit juice, soft drinks, beer and spirituous beverages.
BACKGROUND
[0002]At present, state-of-the-art crown-type caps are made up with: [0003]1. A flat upper metallic cap consisting of a round plate-type piece with radial, girdling and descending skirt-type crimping, allowing for its marginal bending on the neck of container to be sealed in order to get a tight holding of crown cap on mouth of bottle or container. [0004]2. Thermoformed internal plastic stuffing or disk aiming at getting a hermetic closure on the mouth of a bottle or container.
[0005]A technical problem generally found in crown-type caps currently available is the excess of steel involved in the manufacture of state-of-the-art crown caps, which leads to a larger environmental pollution and higher costs.
INVENTION DESCRIPTION
[0006]This "Reinforced Crown Cap" solves the above mentioned technical problem. Innovation is directly applied on flat upper metallic part of crown cap and consists of a round plate-type piece peripherally provided with radial, girdling and descending skirt-type crimping (Number 2, Drawing A, Number 5, Drawing B) allowing for its marginal bending on neck of a container to be sealed. A structural reinforcement is applied on round plan (Number 1, Drawing A, Number 4, Drawing B) by deforming steel in the form of high or low relief crimping with a radial symmetry with no compromise of basic features of a Crown Cap consisting in bottle sealing up. Therefore, no reinforcement shall be placed on stuffing--container contact area.
[0007]An ideal structural reinforcement is obtained by application of high or low relief grooves in the form of one to three coaxial rings, a cross or a star as long as it has a radial symmetry on round plan of the "Reinforced Crown Cap."
[0008]Technical Advantage: Innovating features of the "Reinforced Crown Cap" refer to the structural reinforcement (Number 1, Drawing A, Number 4, Drawing B) which allows for a 20% substantial decrease of steel thickness used for state-in-the-art crown caps. This can be achieved by compensation with an increase in steel hardness plus a reinforcement of one to three axial rings, a cross or a star as long as it is symmetrical on the flat upper metallic part of cap (mirror).
[0009]This "Reinforced Crown Cap" with the above mentioned structural reinforcement can be applied on either version of state-of-the-art crown cap: [0010]Fixed Crown (PRY-OFF): to be opened with a lever. [0011]Rotating Crown (TWIST-CROWN): to be open with a single twist.
DRAWING DESCRIPTION
[0011] [0012]Drawing A: It represents the "Reinforced Crown Cap" in its commercially available form, side section sight, where structural reinforcements are seen (Number 1, Drawing A), as well as girdling and descending skirt-type crimping (Number 2, Drawing A) and a stuffing part (Number 3, Drawing A). [0013]Drawing B: It represents the "Reinforced Crown Cap" in its commercially available form, upper sight, where structural reinforcement are seen (Number 4, Drawing B); as well as girdling and descending skirt-type crimping (Number 5, Drawing B).
TECHNIQUE FOR MANUFACTURING THE "REINFORCED CROWN CAP"
[0014]The "Reinforced Crown Cap" is manufactured by a pressing operation on a steel plate.
[0015]The "Reinforced Crown Cap" is made up with a round plate-type piece furnished with peripherally radial, girdling and descending skirt-type crimping (Number 2, Drawing A; Number 5, Drawing B), allowing for marginal bending on neck of the container to be sealed. A structural reinforcement is applied on round plan (Number 1, Drawing A, Number 4, Drawing B) by deforming steel in the form of high and low relief crimping with a radial symmetry, with no compromise of basic features of Crown Cap that consists of bottle sealing. Therefore, reinforcement shall not be applied to the stuffing--container contact area.
[0016]An ideal structural reinforcement is given by application of high or low relief grooves in the form of one to three axial rings, a cross or a star as long as it has a radial symmetry on round plan of the "Reinforced Crown Cap."
APPLICATION
[0017]a. The "Reinforced Crown Cap" is used to seal glass containers containing water, fruit juice, soft drinks, beer and spirituous beverages (liquor). [0018]b. Economic purpose: Innovating features of the "Reinforced Crown Cap" shall allow for a substantial decrease in steel thickness used for crown caps. [0019]c. It does not require additional operations in the manufacturing process. [0020]d. Ecologic purpose: It reduces steel use which implies a decrease in power required for manufacturing products.
