an inner surface and in at least one of said first cushion portion and
said second cushion portion adjacent a side thereof facing such back of
such chair for carrying and storing pre-selected items therein; and(d) a
means engageable with each of said first cushion portion and said second
cushion portion for selectively pivoting said first cushion portion
relative to said second cushion portion between a retracted position in
which said first cushion portion is substantially adjacent said second
cushion portion and an extended position in which said first cushion
portion is separated from said second cushion portion when said
combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device is one of

6. A combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device, as claimed in claim 4, wherein said accessory pocket includes an insulated compartment.
7. A combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device, as claimed in claim 4, wherein said means for removably mounting said combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device to said chair includes a means for connecting said first cushion member to said second cushion member.
8. A combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device, as claimed in claim 7, wherein said combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device further includes a handle member attached to said means for connecting said first cushion member to said second cushion member.
Description:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001]The present invention generally relates, in general, to beach accessories. More particularly, the invention relates to a multifunctional pillow to be used in conjunction with a beach chair.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002]Many worry about the safety of their keys, wallet, watch, and other personal items when visiting the beach. Carrying a chair, towel, cooler, and several bags leaves little room to bring necessary comfort items like a pillow or sporting equipment as well as other items needed. The beach pillow will enable beachgoers to enjoy a day at the beach in comfort and style, without the hassle of carrying several bags. The beach pillow offers a comfortable pillow and storage pocket in one easy to carry product.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003]The present invention provides a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device. The combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device includes a first cushion portion which is engageable with a front portion of a chair. There is a second cushion portion which is engageable with a back portion of such chair. Further, there is a means for removably mounting such first cushion portion and such second cushion portion to the back portion of such chair. At least one accessory pocket is formed in at least one of the first cushion portion and the second cushion portion adjacent a side thereof facing such back of such chair for carrying and storing pre-selected items therein. The final essential element is a means which engages with each of such first cushion portion and such second cushion portion for selectively pivoting the first cushion portion relative to the second cushion portion between a retracted position in which the first cushion portion is substantially adjacent such second cushion portion and an extended position in which such first cushion portion is separated from the second cushion portion when the combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device is mounted to such chair.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0004]It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device which is relatively light weight.
[0005]It is another object of the present invention to provide a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device which includes multiple pockets.
[0006]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device which is easily transportable.
[0007]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device which can be used with a plurality of chair types.
[0008]It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device which is water proof.
[0009]These and various other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons skilled in the art after a full reading of the following detailed description, particularly, when such description is read in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010]FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a presently preferred embodiment of the combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device produced according to the invention; and
[0011]FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device illustrated in FIG. 1 showing it in an open position.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PRESENTLY PREFERRED AND VARIOUS ALTERNATIVE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0012]Prior to proceeding to a much more detailed description of the present invention, it should be noted that identical components which have identical functions have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures for the sake of clarity and understanding of the invention.
[0013]Reference is now made, more particularly to FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawings. Illustrated therein is a combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device, generally designated 10. Such combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device 10 includes a first cushion portion 12 for engagement with a front portion of a chair (not shown) and a second cushion portion 14 for engagement with a back portion of such chair.
[0014]There is a means, generally designated 20, for removably mounting such first cushion portion 12 and such second cushion portion 14 to such back portion of such chair. As illustrated the means 20 is a pair of loops which can be secured together although the invention is not limited to this specific type of means 20.
[0015]At least one accessory pocket 16 and preferably a pair of accessory pockets 16 are formed in at least one of the first cushion portion 12 and such second cushion portion 14 adjacent a side thereof facing such back of such chair for carrying and storing pre-selected items therein. Preferably, such storage device 16 includes an insulated compartment.
[0016]Additionally, there is provided a means, generally designated 30, that engages with each of such first cushion portion 12 and such second cushion portion 14 for selectively pivoting the first cushion portion 12 relative to the second cushion portion 14 between a retracted position in which the first cushion portion 12 is substantially adjacent the second cushion portion 14 and an extended position in which such first cushion portion 12 is separated from second cushion portion 14 when such combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device 10 is mounted to such chair.
[0017]In the presently preferred embodiment of the invention the of combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device 10 such means 30 for pivoting the first cushion portion 12 relative to the second cushion portion 14 is combined with the means 20 engageable with each of such first cushion portion 12 and the second cushion portion 14 for releasably retaining such first cushion portion 12 in a selected position separated from such second cushion portion 14. Additionally in this presently preferred embodiment of the invention such combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device further includes at least one carrying strap attached thereto.
[0018]Preferably, an outer cover of such combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device 10 is produced from a material selected from the group consisting of leather, nylon, vinyl, and cotton.
[0019]Finally, the combination beach pillow, chair cover and storage device further includes a handle member 24 attached to such means 30 for connecting the first cushion member 12 to the second cushion member 14.
[0020]While both the presently preferred and a number of alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above it should be understood that various other adaptations and modifications of the present invention can be envisioned by those persons who are skilled in the relevant art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
