Pregnancy



Once you have conceived, the baby has nine months of growth and change to prepare itself for the outside world. There are numerous physiological changes to the mother as the baby grows inside her, and many emotional changes and discoveries for both parents.

As soon as a women realizes she may be pregnant, she should schedule an appointment with a gynecologist/obstetrician. The doctor will perform a blood test that can confirm the mother's pregnancy status. Once a women finds that she is pregnant and decides to proceed with the pregnancy, her doctor will schedule her for monthly exams, through the 28th week of pregnancy. Then she may see her doctor every other week from the 30th week to the 36th. After the 36th week of pregnancy, she should be seen every week until delivery. Delivery should occur before the 42nd week.
