187) Can I rely on a server which offers backing store?
You can assume only that the X server has the capability of doing backing store and that it might do so and keep your application's visuals up-to-date without your program's involvement; however, the X server can run out of resources at any time, so you must be able to handle the exposure events yourself. You cannot rely on a server which offers backing store to maintain your windows' contents on your behalf.
