Bloodroot, 85 Ferris St, (203) 576-9168
- It's one of the best vegetarian/natural food restaurants in the
  Northeast (and better than Kung Food in San Diego). Run by a
  feminist collective. There is a small bookstore and t-shirt vendory
  attached. It's about a mile off I-95 on the harbor. Take exit 25
  turning south onto Fairfield Ave, at the third stop light take a
  left onto Ellsworth Street, take the second left onto Thruston
  Street, right onto Harbor Ave, left onto Ferris. Call first to make
  sure they are open. Last time i was there, their hours were:
  Lunch: 11:30 to 2:30, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat.
  Dinner: 6 to 9 Tues and Thurs, 6 to 11 Fri and Sat.
  Brunch: 11:30 to 2:30 Sun.



Canton

  - Has a separate "vegetarian" menu which actually is ill-named as it
    does include some fish dishes (you have to ask for the menu).
    Other dishes seemed to be mostly lacto-vegetarian. The atmosphere
    is boisterous and loud. "The wait is usually 30 min-1 hour, but is
    worth the wait. You put your name in and they give you a beeper. I
    recommend sampling their margaritas at the bar while you wait to
    be called. I'd also recommend the Chili Relleno (lacto-veg) which

- Has a vegan-friendly deli. Part of a local chain, Bread and Circus
  has good food and excellent produce, but is somewhat pricier than
  the average supermarket. They do sell meat, but there are more
  vegetarian and vegan options than you can shake a stick at. Nice
  salad bar, and very good deli counter with a wide selection of veg*n
  foods.

  open for lunch only, if I recall.) Open minimum Mon-Sat 11am-6pm (it
  may have been 11am-7pm or 9am-6pm). Closed Sun.
