- Vegan. 7th Day Adventist restaurant.

Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants:

Garden Allegro Natural Foods Restaurant, 1805 Church Street, 327-3834
- Vegan-friendly. This is a great place! Most dishes are vegetarian,
and a large number are vegan. All their soups are vegetarian or
vegan. They usually have several Mexican dishes, a few Indian, etc.
Wonderful sandwiches, including a vegetarian Sloppy Joe, Veggie
Reuben, and grilled cheese. Garden Allegro makes excellent steamed
veggies, has a variety of vegetarian and vegan sauces to go on a
number of items (yeasty gravy is my favorite!), and they have 2-3
types of fresh juice everyday. Breakfast is great too, with
scrambled tofu, Nashville French Toast, and soysage. Open Mon-Sat
for lunch and dinner. Also breakfast on Sat.
  mornings.

Slice of Life Restaurant and Bakery, 1811 Division Street, 329-2525

Flavors Unlimited, 73 White Bridge Road (across From Target), 356-2444
- This is primarily an ice cream/yogurt store. They make "blended"
frozen desserts instead of soft-serve -- very tasty! Best of all,
they also serve vegetarian sandwiches: Garden Burgers and Veggie
Unlimited, both of which are good. It's a very cheap dinner. Not
  vegan-friendly. Open daily 10am-10pm.

Natural Foods Stores:

Sunshine Grocery, on Belmont Blvd

great prices. She seems to make everything from scratch: bread,
gluten, etc. Gina's a very friendly person. Don't miss this place
  if you're near town.

Summertown
----------

The Farm, 156 Drakes Lane, (615) 964-3574
- An ex-vegetarian-hippie-commune located on 3 square miles of land
just outside of Summertown. They call themselves a cooperative
nondenominational religious community. Among the businesses located
on The Farm is 'The Store' which is a small store that sells
  vegetarian food, tie-dyed t-shirts, and non-vegetarian marshmellows
(the only non-vegetarian item I could find). Also located on The
Farm is a soy dairy, but there are no restaurants or other places
where one can get a meal. You can stay at their campground for $5 a
night. The Farm is an interesting place for a quick visit, but it
did not meet my expectations. To get there, take route 20 west just
out of town to Drakes Lane, go a mile or so to a fork in the road,
take the right side fork, it will take you to the gate into The
  Farm.
