  Paris
  -----

| Time Out (in March 1995) produced a free Paris Guide, available from
| the Eurostar terminal and other tourist information points, which
| includes some veggie restaurants.
|
| "Vegan Guide to Paris" from the Vegetarian Society of the UK,
| http://catless.ncl.ac.uk/Vegetarian/Orgs/VegSocUK/
|
|
| Vegetarian Restaurants:
|
Country Life, 6 rue Danou, 42.97.48.51
  - Vegan. 7th Day Adventist restaurant.

Aquarius, 40 rue de Gergovie (Metro: Pernety)
  - It's wonderful...probably pretty expensive compared to some US
restaurants but probably pretty reasonable compared to most Parisian
restaurants. Prices are maybe $10-15 /plate. Probably most of the
    stuff is ovo-lacto.

Le Grenier de Notre Dame, 18 Rue de la Bucherie, 75005 Paris
43.29.98.29 (Metro: St Michel - Notre Dame)
  - An excellent alternative for vegetarians in Paris. The vegetarian
versions of many "classic" French dishes are on the menu, as well
as vegetarian plates and some fish dishes. Prices are reasonable
by Paris restaurant standards. A must try.

La Petite Legume, 36 rue des Boulangers, 75005 Paris
  - A lacto-ovo vegetarian restaurant with a health food store. Very
    little English spoken.

Auberge In, 34 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine (Metro: Cardinal Lemoine)
  - Tried to find this, but found only a different meat-selling
restaurant there. Would someone like to confirm this?

La Petite Legume, 36 rue des Boulangers, 75005 Paris
    (Metro: Cardinal Lemoine)
  - A lacto-ovo vegetarian restaurant with a health food store. Very
little English spoken. Not a very imaginative menu.

Rayons de Sante, 8 Place Charles Dullin, 75018 Paris 42.59.64.81
    (Metro: Abbesses/Anvers/Pigalle)
  - Opening hours: Sun-Thurs: 9h-15h and 18.30h-22h, Fri: 9h-15h
Varied menu that seemed (from what I could understand of the
French!) to be all vegan. Reasonably priced compared to most
    Parisien restaurants.

| Piccolo Theatro, 6 rue des Ecouffes
| Tel.: 42.72.17.79
| - open 12-3, 7-11 Wed-Sun. Intimate atmosphere. Completely vegetarian.
|
| La Truffe, 31 rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004
| Tel.: 42.71.08.39 Metro: St-Paul
| - Noon-4pm, 7-11pm, daily; tea room Sun afternoon. Average 49F-129F.
| A fashionable new place trying to bring the concept of upmarket
| dining to vegetarian food. Seasonal dishes using wild mushrooms are
| a speciality. No smoking.
|
Aquarius, 54 Rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie
  Grain Sauvage, 15 Rue Letellier
Joy in Food, 2 rue Truffant, 43.87.96.79
| La Macrobiotheque, 17 Rue de Savoie. Tel: 47.00.62.44
| - Metro: Voltaire, 11e arrondissement
Roselight, 29 Quai de la Cournell

| Le Bol en Bois, 35-40 rue Pascal, 75013 (in the 13th arrondissement)
| phone 47.07.27.24.
| - Open all summer, from 12-14 and 19-22. Closed sundays, public
| holidays. Macrobiotic. Organic. Yummy sweets (a few with eggs in).
| We really enjoyed our meals! Just in front of the restaurant there
| is a health food shop.

| Vegetarian-friendly Restaurants:

| Les Quatre et une Saveurs, 72 Rue de Cardinal Lemoine
| - Macrobiotic store & restaurant.

  Germany
  ______________________________________________________________________

Germany has a chain of 'health food' stores called "Reformhaus". This
chain is not recommended though because the food is expensive and not
"biological" (i.e. comes from 'normal' farmers), and there's always a
waste of packing material. Look for stores with `Bio-Laden' or
`Naturkostladen' in their names, they're usually better.

There are several guides of vegetarian restaurants in Germany around.
You should get them in almost every `Bio-Laden'.

| Mail Order:
|
| MUT - VEGAN VERSAND, Rabenstr.32 - 88471 Laupheim
| Tel: 07392-80382
| - The VEGAN VERSAND is a distributor of Vegan products.
| Vegans from all over Germany can order food, clothes etc. The
| products are 100% vegan. Please order the catalogue.
|
|
|
| Augsburg
| --------
|
| Golden Goose Restaurant and Beer Pub
| - Vegetarian-Friendly. Varied menu: the greater part of the menu was
| vegetarian plus they had a huge vegetarian salad "bar" (buffet would
| be a better name). Possibly vegan-friendly.
|
|

  Berlin
  ------

There are literally hundreds of health food stores in Berlin,
especially in districts like Berlin-Kreuzberg, where the `alternative
culture' is quite popular. There is a health food store or health food
restaurant on every other street corner.

There is also a wealth of vegetarian restaurants in Berlin. In
addition Indian restaurants and pizzerias usually serve several
vegetarian meals. There are numerous Indian restaurants in the center
of Berlin. It might help to have a look into the Yellow Pages under
  the section `Gaststaetten'.

  Vegetarian Restaurants:

  Hakuin, Martin-Luther-Str. 1, 1000 Berlin 30
  - Probably the most popular vegetarian restaurant in Berlin. Operated
by German Buddhist monks. Buddhist atmosphere. Meals are somewhat
asian and very good. Small. Expensive. Main room is non-smoking.

Restaurant Thuernagel, Gneisenaustr. 57, 1000 Berlin 61 (Kreuzberg)
  - Inexpensive, customers are mainly young people.

  Restaurant/Cafe Tiago, Knesebeckstr. 15, 1000 Berlin 12
    (Charlottenburg)
  - Inexpensive, customers are mainly students from the nearby
    university. Ex-`Baghwan' restaurant.

Hollyfood, Zossener Str. 61, 1000 Berlin 61 (Kreuzberg)
  - Health food snack bar.

  La Maskera, Gustav-Mueller-Str. 1, 10829 Berlin, phone 7841227
  - vegetarian; they even know what "vegan" means ("You can have
any dish in a vegan version," said the chef, "well, anything
but lasagne." Hm.) The dishes are mainly Italian style.

  Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants:

  Maharadscha, Fuggerstr. 21, 1000 Berlin 30
  - Indian. Inexpensive. Central location.

  Maharani, Fuggerstr. 18, 1000 Berlin 30
  - Indian. Inexpensive. Directly opposite of Maharadscha, so if you
don't get a seat in one of them, just cross the road...

  India Palace, Leibnizstr. 35, 1000 Berlin 12
  - Indian. Very good vegetarian dishes; central location.

  Tandoory, Prinz-Georg-Str. 10, 1000 Berlin 62
  - Indian.

  Katschkol, Pestalozzistr. 84, 1000 Berlin 62
  - Afghan cuisine. Central location.

Cafe Campus, Str. des 17. Juni, 1000 Berlin 10 (ASTA-Villa, behind
    Math-Dept)
  - `Vollwertkost' and always some vegetarian dishes; customers are
mainly students and people working at the university.

| Thurnagel, Gneisenaustrasse 57. Tel: 891-48-00
| - Vegetarian and Vegan-Friendly. Elegent restaurant serving
| many unique creations; no credit cards.
|
| Abendmahl, Muskauer Strasse 9 Tel: 691 23 42
| - reservations essential. Vegan-Friendly. Nouvelle cuisine.
| Rich atmosphere of linen tablecloths, red velvet drapes and
| chandeliers circa 1930.
|
| Mesa, Paretzerstr. 3, Berlin Wilmersdorf. Tel.: 030-8225364
| - Open daily 16-24. Lebanese. Fresh, good food in a small,
| friendly restaurant. Wide selection. Helpful waiters. Create your
| own plate from large selection of small appetisers.

| Natural Food Stores:

There are at least a dozen health food shops within walking distance
  of Mehringdamm/Zossener Str./Bergmannstr.

| Einhorn (Unicorn), Wittenbergplatz ??, Berlin, near Wittenbergplatz
| underground station
| - Bio-Laden. Good food. Open 10am-6pm.
|
| Zweihorn, Mommsenstr./Knesebeckstr., parallel to the Kurfuerstendamm
| - Bio-Laden. Good food. Open 10am-6pm.
|
| ???, Mehringdamm 46, 1000 Berlin 61

  - Wide choice, very good food, reservation absolutely necessary.
(Western Part of town, close to peripheral annular motorway.)

  Jahreszeiten Vollwert Restaurant, Sebastiansplatz 9

  Keyno Vegetarishes Restaurant, Steinstrasse 42
  - Very good. A fair number of vegan items on the menu.

    "local" food.

Norwegian products are boycotted by several organisations, industries
and people because of resumption of illegal whaling by Norwegians
inspite of an international ban. Norway is not a good place to visit

I had a hard time finding vegetarian food in Trondheim both the times
(in 1990 and 1993). It is difficult almost everywhere except Oslo.
