4.2. Why did they replace Buck The Dog?

Because the original Buck was very old. 12 1/2 years when he retired,
which is longer than most briards live. Remember, Buck was a trained
adult dog in the first season. Buck the character-dog died in "Requiem
For A Dead Briard" and was re-incarnated as Lucky; Buck the actor-dog
retired and has since died.
